The Rainbow Challenge-July Edition

Hello Everybody!

Happy July! This month at the Rainbow Challenge we are all about Charmingly Cherry! 

This board has some fantastic ideas!  I chose to use some washi tape. Some how I have a lot of red-I think I bought a tube from Michaels a while back. The paper for the background and sentiment are real red from stampin up. And the sentiment is a die cut from Simon Says Stamp.  Then I added some gems for fun. :)

Marvelous Mauve

Hello Friends!

We are welcoming February with a new challenge over at the Rainbow Card Challenge. This month we are all about Mauve!

Mauve is sort of a tough color-I'm not going to lie LOL. It's not a color I use a lot of but it's very pretty. Here I used Stampin Up color Pale Plum-the paper and the ink. 

The background stamp is Taylored Expressions

The sentiment stamp is Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holtz) and the heart die is Tim Holtz

And two little heart rhinestones in my stash finished this card.

More Gifted Background Cards

 Hello Friends!

I was trying to do a post a day but yesterday came and went in a blink of an eye! So here are my last two cards using the Taylored Expressions gifted background using these purple, pink, and blue colors.

So for these two cards I used the stamp and then the stencil to apply the distress inks over. Once you get the stencil lined up-the background is finished quickly. The card background is Stampin up Lovey Lilac. For this card the celebrate sentiment is also Stampin Up and it's stamped in Lovely Lilac ink.

For this card same as above except I used a Tim Holtz die cut for smile. And scraps (woo hoo!) and the stamp in Taylored Expressions. I love these simple strips!

Here the ink colors for the presents. Honestly, I didn't come up with this combo.  LOL. I looked on Pinterest. I feel like I don't match colors well and the wonderful people on pinterest have so many great examples LOL. :)

Gifted Background Birthday Card

Hello Everybody!

It is a new year and with that a little self reflection.  I am starting to know what my limits are-like I cannot make an elaborate costume or craft things out of wood.  I can't really work a saw and there wouldn't be room for one if I could.  But what I can do is make cards and various papercrafts.  I want to deliver a little magic to my family and friends in their mailboxes.  If I were to pick a word for this new year-it is magic. And I want to be able to make that happen.  

With that-I am trying to let go of perfection. A thing I put on myself all by myself.  That's what stops things from being created. My own "that won't be good enough."  The receiver doesn't know what it should look like per se. They are happy to be thought about. And life's not perfect. So here we go!

I bought this Taylored Expressions gifted background. They have this really cool process-it's more than a stamp. There is a matching stencil and matching die cut. I have become obsessed.

 

This card uses the stamp and stencil. The stencil is awesome in creating this change color effect on the presents. I have used this color scheme on a few more cards which I will share as the week progresses. A whole week of cards or projects! Yes please! 

So for this card I used Lovely Lilac cardstock from Stampin Up. The heart sequins are from Queen and Company. The sentiment is from rubber necker stamps stamped in lovely lilac with shaded lilac distress ink on the sides of the cut out sentiment. First I stamped the background and then used the stencil with distress oxides/inks in the picture below. I used my normal ranger round foam applicators.

Pinterest is a beautiful thing. That is where this color combo was that inspired me.

Festival of Trees Layout

 Hello Friends!

I was very inspired by the sketch at Stick It Down.  I love that wreath on the second page of the layout.  I also love Paige Evans-I am in her facebook group and she shares projects using her die cuts and paper lines.  So I saw the wreath on the sketch and my mine was like I can use a Paige Evans die cut.  So I did!

I am also submitting this layout to Challenge YOUrself-Anything Goes #84. I'm on the second page ;)

Here's my layout followed by the sketch:

I used an old Stampin Up kit called Christmas Jingle.  It was perfect because I was having problems matching all of the the other Christmas paper I had. LOL. The Merry Christmas Paper is from Hobby Lobby.  The border on the left is also from the kit. For the journal block I used decorative edge scissors. I have a lot of them, and I am trying to use them :) So yay! Then there are various brads and stickers and a tree button and a Making Memories square there to decorate. 

Here is the die cut wreath before I filled in with little papers. I am just happy my silhouette cut it out LOL. I know that sounds silly but I don't always have luck with intricate cuts.  I took the speed down by one and maybe that helped.  I was very proud of it LOL.

So here are the insides of the images.  They are so cute! I wanted to save them but I do no possess the patience for such an undertaking. I started and realized this. LOL.  I watched a video on Paige's youtube where she offers a few different ways to back the die cut. I chose flipping it over and tracing the paper I wanted it to go on (traced on the backside of it). Then cut it out with a border so I could glue it onto the die cut outline.  It took a few days a couple of hours here and there.

Ta Da! I used glitter paper, pattern paper, scraps, and even a paper where I had sprayed a pretty color on (the bell).  It was fun.  My husband wanted me to make it into a real wreath. He's so sweet! :) It's a little small but maybe that is an idea for later down the road.

I got this as a little gift from Taylored Expressions for an order. I love it! And thought it fit perfect here.  They send the cutest little thank you gifts. I have others that I think are great. They didn't pay me for this advertisement but I think you should know!  :)

Thank You For A Doctor Card

 Hello Friends!

I made a simple card this evening.  I have had some medical stuff and my doctor has been fantastic.  So I created this card as a thank you and happy holidays.

The dark panel is a dark navy blue and I am not sure if that translated on camera.  But that's ok because the stethoscope sparkles (Paper Studio Glitter Paper)! I made that using my silhouette cameo.  I white embossed the sentiment from Stampin UP. And I used a silver marker to edge the navy blue panel.

Have you made your doctor a thank you card or given them any kind of gift? I am thankful that I haven't really had anything until now. And that I see the same doctor because sometimes with dr groups you see who is available.

Happy Mother's Day Card

Happy Mother's Day!  I made this card for my mom:

I used Prima Paper for the background.  I used Prima paper for the distress panel too and some walnut ink distress oxide.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up.  I foiled those flowers with my minc machine.  I had left over paper and used a punch to make the flowers. The 3 sisters are from Tim Holtz paperdolls. And the dots are from a set of stamps called Rubber Stamp Tapestry. 

I just love how this card came out!  I hope my mom does too :)

Vivaciously Violet!

May-is that really you?  LOL.  This month might hold some changes.  It's still day by day.  But today at Rainbow Card Challenge (and the rest of the month) it's all about Violet! 

I have been loving violet a lot lately.  Let me show you my card:

The purple paper is Lovely Lilac by Stampin Up.  Then I used a Tim Holtz stencil and put versamark through it to create the dark spaces.  The smaller panel didn't look good with plain cardstock.  The same stencil is on the middle panel and I used Lovely Lilac ink.  Then with the stencil still on there I put Art Anthology Splashed paint over the lovely lilac ink.  It's beautful LOL.  

The sentiment is simon says stamp die big thanks.  I love this die and might even go so far to say it's my favorite at this moment in time.  I put two lilac thanks on top of the white outline.

Here is a close up of the middle panel.  See all of that glittery goodness?  I love this technique.

Hello Beautiful!

4/40 Here is another card from the K & Company Cardstock Pad.  I am trying to use all of the cards in this pack.  I know why I haven't before-I was probably afraid and then just didn't know how to do them justice.

I still don't know if I am doing them justice-but I don't want them taking up space when they need to be decorated and sent out (at some point).  

So this is what I did with this busy flower card base.  I love Tim Holtz paperdolls and colored her with my spectrum markers (which didn't take long to dry!).  I had a piece of vellum left over that I stamped the wings (Fun Stampers Journey) onto using archival manganese blue.  And a small bit of cardstock left over from die cutting some stuff.  The Hello Beautiful are word stamps from Stampin Up 2005.  

The expression on this angel's face doesn't fit the sentiment exactly and I think that's what makes it funny.  Oh I also took Glossy Accents and outlined 3 of the tulips to help balance the texture.

Smile a Whole Lot More Card

I am sharing my 2nd card out of my 40 cards I am making for Lent. You can read more about that here.

I used one felt flower and a heart brad and 3 little paper flowers and 3 little brads from my stash.  I always feel like a rock star when I use things I have had for a while. :)  I like the pop of color the flowers added.

The card base is from Amy Butler /K and Company.  Clear embossing paste from Wendy Vecchi and the stencil is Dylusions. And the the sentiment is from Stampin Up-not super old the set is Friendly Conversation.

Christmas Thank You Cards With Palm Trees and Flamingos

Hello Everybody!

Happy New Year! I love January because there is this energy of new hope and goals.  And they are achievable because nothing is going on right now LOL.  And then once February comes along and time starts to go faster and the calendar fills up with obligations.  But until then-I am going to enjoy January! :)

So I was able to make some Christmas Thank you cards in the nice quiet after the new year. 

I have used this stamp before-it's from Close to My Heart.  An oldie but a goodie.  I used a paper pad from the Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) for the backgrounds and cardstock.  On this card I used gold ink from Colorbox. And also some cardstock.

This one has Paper Studio background paper.  Close to my Heart stamp and the die cut sentiment is one of my favorites from Queen and Company.

So the next set of stamps have flamingos from Taylored Expressions.  This is the first time I have used stamps from them.  I also got the matching die cuts and that is a wonderful thing!  Most of the time I am a fussy cutter but with their skinny little legs it's nice to have the matching die.

Some pop dots and twine were added to this one.  And that sentiment is a Fiskars stamp (also used above).

Glittery Stickles close up :)

For this card I added a present stamp from Stampin Up.  It's fairly new-I think released last year.

Projects from July

Hello Everybody!

I am working on July projects.  It is fun to go back and see what I created.  It's mostly cards-cards that have already been given out.  And I am like-oh I want to make some more of those!

Or use more Queen and Company stuff because I love their stuff.  And this summer I was all about rainbows and colors!

This is all Queen and Company except for the glitter paper from Hobby Lobby.  I love these products!

I used this prima stencil and a rainbow of colors of distress ink.

Ta-da!  It's on a 12X12 piece of white cardstock which I haven't finished but I was happy after I finished the rainbow stencil.

I love how this card turned out.  I used a chicken wire background stamp from Stampin UP (so it is rather old) and used gold embossing powder.  Then I used distress ink oxides.  The cow, pig, and rooster are a die cut from Silhouette.  And the sentiment and metal frame are old school Stampin' Up too.  And then that panel is on a kraft card.

This fun card went to some of my husband's relatives.  I love that heart background (simon says stamp).  Old school flower background stamp from Stampin Up and paper dolls, film strip, flash card, and metal sticker and rub on from Tim Holtz.  Along with the distress ink.  The clock stamp on the bottom is Hot off the press (I think) and the gold flower "sequins" are pink and main.

Mostly a Tim Holtz card with the stamp, ink and background stencil.  The sentiment is a die cut from Queen and Company and glitter paper from Hobby Lobby.

Wow!  July was busy!  Like I said it's fun to look back.  I need to get out those paper dolls and make some cards with them! :)

Epcot Layout

Hello Everybody!

Today I'm sharing a layout I created for Stick It Down using the single sketch challenge.  I am also submitting this layout in the Use Your Stuff Challenge for Easter or Spring.  The flowers are very springy and this happened at the end of our spring break.

This was at Epcot at the Flower and Garden Show. 

The background paper and pattern papers are from an old Stampin Up kit called Just Delighful.  I also used some matching purples and pinks cardstock to make flowers.  The larger flowers are die cut files from Paige Evans on my Silhouette and the smaller flowers are from Tim Holtz Funky Foliage thinlits dies.  I used differently brads to go through the centers for the flowers.  I also used some enamel accents in white to add dots around.  The title is Thickers.

Here is the sketch from Stick It Down.  It had circles-which I had cut some but I didn't like it.  Then what I think was a brainstorm-I swapped out circles for flowers.  The banner would have been too much if I added it so I just put a little banner under the picture.

I also enlarged my middle photo.

Hugs Birthday Card

Hello Everybody!

Let me show the birthday card I made for my friend-and then I can tell you about it! :)

I was looking for things that my friend likes-and I didn't have much (in the way of farm animals and cowgirlish type things).  And as I was looking for something else (isn't that always the way?) it occurred to me that I am giving the card so it was ok if it was more a me card than a her card.

I like to make cards for people based on the people-I know many of us here in blogland do-that's part of the fun of make cards for our friends and family.  But I saw this old Stampin' Up stamp which reminded me of my spazzy self.  I used a Spell Binder die to make the cool scalloped circle. I saw the background that I had created for a different project but didn't work for that project.  (which is a stencil and distress oxides)  And then everything else came together.  I used Thickers foam letters to spell out Hugs because it was fun and we are always hugging. :)  LOL.

The cut little butterfly is from Queen and Company and the sparkly flower sequins are from Pink and Main.  I colored my spazzy "self" with Copic markers. :)  I used Nuovo Embellishment Mousse around the edges of the card to give them a little sparkle.

Here pink dress-definitely an inspiration to this card.  But I hope she doesn't sit up to fast-the top doesn't look that secure.  And she's going to need hugs if she falls off of that bike with those shoes.  (LOL I'm teasing I'm sure this is a photo shoot sort of thing and she's a model.)

Playing in the Dirt Layout

Hello Everybody!

Long time no see!  I'm still here.  I have been busy working on other things.  Plus, I can't have caffeine right now-so I'm very sleepy at night and have to go to bed.  LOL.

One of the things I have been working on are ATC's.  If you have Instagram-you can check them out over there.  :)  I will share them here too-but it will be a little while.

But for right now I want to share this layout I created using the 2 page sketch over at Stick It Down.

The title was done using the Zippy font on the Silhouette.  I added a sticker from Hobby Lobby.  The cardstock is all from Stampin Up.  The pattern paper is from Creating Keepsakes.  And the ribbon is from Jilli Bean Soup.

Geometric Happy Birthday

Hello Everybody!

I was inspired by the challenge at "Just Us Girls" to make this card.  Their challenge is Geometric.

I used some Stampin Up stuff that a friend of mind kindly gifted me a while back.  The papers are SU chocolate chip and regal rose and so are the stamp colors.  The white is from Michaels (when they are $2 a pack-you know the ones) ;)

The sentiment is also SU and the circles are from Inkadinkado.  I used their square placing system also to start the pattern of circles and then I filled in the rest.  I also added a brown ribbon.  I don't know about you but I feel successful when I can incorporate ribbon onto a project. :)

The flowers are Tim Holtzs tattered florals and the circle is from spellbinders.

Mid-Month Inspiration

Here is the card I made.  I really liked the red-so I used Rose Red cardstock from Stampin Up.

I used a Tim Holtz thinlit for the cool design and silver sequin stars (inspired by the grey in the picture).  And I used black embossing powder with an old Stampin Up stamp.

Autumn in the City

Hello Everybody!

I really like how this card turned out.  I made it with a set from Close To My Heart called Cityscape Everyday Life.  I bought the set at Scrapbook Expo a couple of years ago.  I tried to look them up on the CTMH website but they didn't have them listed anymore. :(  (Or not to where I could find them.)

I used Stampin Up inks though (lol).  I used really rust, chocolate chip, riding hood red, more mustard, blue bayou, and real red.  The sentiment is Tim Holtz and it's over 2 years old.  The photo corners are older than the stamps and inks combined--LOL :)

I wanted to submit this card to the following challenges:
