Happy First Day of School Card

 Hello Friends!

The challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Back to School. So when I was looking at my Tim Holtz dies the smaller house in ghost town 2 jumped out at me. Crazy right? But I was able to turn this little haunted house into a respectable place of education :)

I cut the house twice-red and black cardstock and then cut the roof to fit over the red house. I swiped chrome yellow archival ink from Ranger on white cardstock and fit it to the back of the house. The background paper and world is from a Prima paper collection called Engraver. I added two smaller paper dolls and she is sitting on a box of blank index tabs (from snippets tim holtz). I used vintage photo oxide ink and black soot distress ink in various places.

Here is how I made the sentiment and why the letters aren't perfect. I didn't have word stamps for happy first day. So I made my own words using this little stamp set from my husband awhile back :)

Use Your Wings Card

 Hello Everybody!

Happy Summer so far! I created this card for a graduation-I am a little late-but better late than never!  So this is for my cousin :) Yay! And it's not a traditional cap and gown but I think that's ok.

So I was watching a Sizzix video and Pete talked about using metallic flakes with an adhesive sheet-and that is what I did for the pretty green/blue/silver panel. He embosses his but I couldn't. At least not this time around-I just thought it was gorgeous. I also sealed it with modge podge so it doesn't rub off too bad if someone touches it.

The clay butterfly-I just directed applied the foundry wax-little by little and as I rewatched Tim's video so I did it correctly).  When the butterfly was all silver I then added the peacock wax over the highlights.

I used my crop-a-dile to make holes in the quote chip and I put some brads to make it look more finished since I didn't ink it or anything.

I used glossy accents to glue the butterfly and chip quote.

It's August!

 Hello Friends!

Why is it that when one month ends it's so surprising? I guess it's because time just goes by so fast. And here we are-August!  

With a new month means a new challenge at the Rainbow Challenge! This month we are all about Teal!

Here's my card.  I used mostly Tim Holtz products. The die cut is from his Sizzix line-Cathedral Window.  I added crackle paint to the window and then used some mermaid lagoon distress crayon over the cracks and non cracked areas.

I used alcohol inks on on acetate and glued it to the window.  The flower is Tim's glitter alcohol paper (it's beautiful by itself) and I added the matching alcohol ink to it and put a rhinestone in the middle. 

For the background I used a Ranger stencil by Dina Wakley for the bricks and light modeling paste. When that dried I used mermaid lagoon crayon, tumbled glass distress ink and broken china oxide ink with water to create the drips and splatters.  I thought about a sentiment-but I felt like it would take away from the window. I write in the card anyways-so there will be sentiments inside :)

Positively Periwinkle

Happy May 1st!  New Month New Color over at the Rainbow Challenge!

This month it is periwinkle.

And here is the card I made using periwinkle. I made a 5 x 5 card.

For the paper I used Stampin Up Brocade Blue. And the flowers are Tim Holtz that I sprayed with stormy sky distress oxide spray. 

Those cages! I bought a new die cut by Sizzix and the birds and the chains and the cages all come in the die cut. There are even more birds and another cage. I embossed them with platinum powder from Ranger. And the birds are cut out from glitter paper.  

The sentiment is a a Taylored Expressions hello die cut that I die cutted 3 times and glued them together to give it some dimension. I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire for that :)

Heart Swing Card (2)

 Hello Friends!

Today I am showing you a second heart swing card that I made (there's 5 altogether). The story about the heart swing cards is here if you would like to know a little more. :)  Thank you stopping by today! This is Day 4 of my 14 Days of Valentine's Craftiness :)

For this card I used some old but very well loved Crate scrapbook paper for the background. I wrapped twine in the first part. The flower was in my stash-and is an acetate flower that I had made. I stamped it and then painted it with glue and glitter. Then I took a paper heart and put it for the center of the heart and added glitter glue.  The forever heart was a chipboard piece also in my stash. :)  Yay! Using up some pieces! LOL :)

Here is the card folded like it would be in the envelope. The elephant is from The Silhouette Design Store and is a print and cut. So cute!  And the butterfly was in a bag of sparkly kind of material butterflies that were given to me.

Here is the other side of the heart. This is a Tim Holtz sentiment and some hearts from a die cut. And the flowers are from K & Company.

Fun In August

Hello Everybody!

I'm back with my cards from August. 

I made this card for a friend of mine who lives on a ranch.  I will be making her a thank you card too-and there will be a cow involved on it too. 

I love my Silhouette machine-I'm sorry if you get tired of me saying that lol.  I printed the background paper from their design store.  And the cow cut file came from there also.  And since it has separate parts, I was able to not only make the head 3-D but I put a little spiral thing on it to make it move back and forth.

The hat is from Tim Holtz. 

Sympathy cards are always hard for me to make.  And if I take to long to make it-then it never gets given and that just isn't right.  So I made a quick simple card using a tulip embossing folder.  Embossing folders are just awesome. 

So I need another anniversary card for some family members-and yay! paper dolls by Tim Holtz!  That is green mulberry paper in the middle and a foil washi tape of some kind that I embossed (which I was proud of embossing lol). I colored the flowers on the paper dolls too.  The trick is for waiting for the markers to dry.  Patience is hard.  haha!

I made this card for a friend of mind and I again love how it turned out!  I found this tag and then everything just came together and I really love when that happens.  Sometime it takes me way too long to make a card-and then there are others like this that I make quickly because they come together quickly. :)

My last card for August was a Narwhal card.  The cut file was from the Silhouette store.  It was fun to make. :)

This was a great month!  Let's see what September holds! :)

Projects from July

Hello Everybody!

I am working on July projects.  It is fun to go back and see what I created.  It's mostly cards-cards that have already been given out.  And I am like-oh I want to make some more of those!

Or use more Queen and Company stuff because I love their stuff.  And this summer I was all about rainbows and colors!

This is all Queen and Company except for the glitter paper from Hobby Lobby.  I love these products!

I used this prima stencil and a rainbow of colors of distress ink.

Ta-da!  It's on a 12X12 piece of white cardstock which I haven't finished but I was happy after I finished the rainbow stencil.

I love how this card turned out.  I used a chicken wire background stamp from Stampin UP (so it is rather old) and used gold embossing powder.  Then I used distress ink oxides.  The cow, pig, and rooster are a die cut from Silhouette.  And the sentiment and metal frame are old school Stampin' Up too.  And then that panel is on a kraft card.

This fun card went to some of my husband's relatives.  I love that heart background (simon says stamp).  Old school flower background stamp from Stampin Up and paper dolls, film strip, flash card, and metal sticker and rub on from Tim Holtz.  Along with the distress ink.  The clock stamp on the bottom is Hot off the press (I think) and the gold flower "sequins" are pink and main.

Mostly a Tim Holtz card with the stamp, ink and background stencil.  The sentiment is a die cut from Queen and Company and glitter paper from Hobby Lobby.

Wow!  July was busy!  Like I said it's fun to look back.  I need to get out those paper dolls and make some cards with them! :)

Cards from June

Hello Friends!

How is everyone today?  I got my swifter out and dusted this blog off.  It's been a little while.  I don't know what happened in the summer and then once October hits--well it's all a blur until after Christmas.  LOL

I have been crafty although I haven't documented it very well here on my blog.   I have my Instagram account and that is where I have been sharing the things I have made.   So I am going to get caught up right now!  Finish the year up right! :)

I think the best way is to go month by month.  So I am finishing June 2019 with these 2 cards.

The first one here is using a sticky paper and putting glitter on it.  Stamping on it and then coloring the images with Copics.  These stamps were from Sparkle N Sprinkle but the company is now Glitter Galore.  And a couple of Tim Holtz stars help finish this card.

The second card happened with a lot of help from Etsy. lol  It was for 10 year so Mario for the win!  And I used a Tim Holtz stamp for the sentiment.

Catching Up Post

Hello Eveybody!

It's so crazy to think that this is the end of the month, isn't it?  December just flew by!  I just posted a card with a cute bus and reindeer--but before that I haven't posted since like November.  And before that there was a post in October. 

I promise that I have been crafting-but things have been so busy (I'm sure you understand) that I am doing good to take a picture and then I am onto the next thing.

So I wanted to show you guys what I have been making.  My pictures aren't fancy-I couldn't get many of my crafty projects into the photo box before they needed to be given out.  So you will see my Ranger mat-LOL  (Side note-Dear Ranger have you thought of making mats in different colors? Love ya!)

So let's start with Halloween.  This year I was in charge of my church's Trunk Or Treat.  This is one of my favorite events of the year.  People sign up and decorate their trunks and give out candy.  I wanted to make sure each trunk was recognized by the organizer of the event.  I wanted to be sure I thanked each person.  So I made these Halloween ribbons:

I made 30 of these ribbons-using my silhouette I made the circles and using my score pad I made rosettes.  That is a time consuming project-LOL  I love the ribbon part-glittery goodness that I bought at Hobby Lobby.  Those little halloween images are sequins.  And the thank you is cut out of paper from my Silhouette also.

I also made some cards that I barely was able to take pictures of before it was time to send them off-

This card was for my sweet friend who gave me these cool shape stamps and owl stamps from Close to My Heart.

This card was for a friend of our that had been involved in a horrible car accident.  It's a blessing she is still with us today.  I love this card because of the transparent paste and the TH paper doll.  The sentiment is also a Tim Holtz stamp-and I love that set of sentiments.

This was for my friend Danielle-her families dog passed away due to age.  No matter how old-it's never easy.  I am happy to say that they now have a new puppy.  :)

This card was for someone my husband works with who was retiring.  He asked if I could put an RV on the card.  Super cute die cuts from Silhouette!  I love how this turned out.  I love it when I can make a little scene on a card.  :) 

My friend Danielle also needed some Christmas teacher gifts.  I don't do a ton of vinyl projects but I made these for her per her request.  It was Pinterest inspired. 

Another friend of mine and I came up with a fun thing to do with our friends at church.  We had a tag making party.  We each made 6 tag designs-set up tables and had a great spread of food.  We couldn't have thrown such an awesome event without my friend Danielle and another friend of ours.  :)  My hubby helped put out food too-so it was a great group effort.  Here are my tags:

This tag was cut from the silhouette, has washi tape and the snowflake is silhouette.  I spritzed it with liquid Silver Pearls by Ranger to make it sparkly.

This was Pinterest inspired and Silhouette created.  People at the event glued the pieces on and punched a hole to put the twine through.  I had different colored "cups" to add variety.

Good ol' Silhouette.  To make the hats more original-I brought my Cuttlebug and taught people how to emboss.  There is a white hat base that everything glued onto.

Silhouette!  and then I used Red Stickles on the noses so our guests wouldn't have to worry about glitter glue drying.  They also assembled the parts using glue sticks.

The base of these tags and the singing kids are from Silhouette.  The background was this awesome tissue paper from Hobby Lobby.  You adhere the tissue paper on top of the tag and cut of the extra.  Then I had different sequins and gems so people could personalize their tags.

The tag cut out was Silhouette, the stamp is from Stampin Up and then I put gold ink around the sides with a Cat's Eye ink.  

Anytime I prepare something like this (which is not often) I always have a greater appreciation for people who develop classes and have to prep kits.  LOL-sometimes when you take a class you don't think about someone having to make or distribute pieces to so many kits.  

And we didn't get paid for this.  We donated the materials, food, and time.  It was a great time of fellowship.  And thanks be to God for giving us the idea and having it turn out great.  (I'm not gonna lie, we both were like what were we thinking?  But nothing to worry about when you give it to God.)  :)

Whew!  That's a lot--and I probably left a few things out.  Right now I'm working on a December Daily-just starting it actually.  LOL  Yeah I know what today's date is.

Gelli Prints

Hello Everybody!

It always feels like forever since I last did a blog post.  And I realized why!  I get so caught up in doing challenges and my DT posts that I don't post my in between process.  I'm always trying to craft something-good, bad or for the trash-LOL.  So over the weekend I worked on my gelli plate and today I'm going to show them to you.  It's about sharing inspiration right?  Let's go!

Here lately I try to "save" books at 2nd hand stores.  I have a couple of text books, dictionaries (I am a sucker for a dictionary!), just some regular story hard back books, and these...old almanac or world books.  

Now in the beginning it was hard for me to tear up a book.  It's a book?!?! for crying out loud-meant to be read and collected.  But thankfully for people in blogland and pinterest-they were doing things with their book pages.  So I started to dictionary pages and year book pages because does anyone care about what happened in 2010?  No-or else they wouldn't have donated their book!  LOL.  

So on the weekend I tore out many pages and sized them for card backgrounds.

Here are what the pages look like.  I'm showing this so you can see there are columns and it doesn't read like a regular book.  Which I was unsure of at first-but it all works!  Keep scrolling! :)

I got out my paints....Now these special little paints were bought for another project-that I might blog about on another day.  They are liquidy (warning: I'm not an artist)-fluid acrylics.  They dry quicker which isn't what you really want with a gelli plate because you need time to add and take away from the gelli plate before you take your monoprint.  But I had to experiment--and look at all of those beautiful colors!  Oh and the one with the heart--my favorite!  Phthalo green  :)

And here are my normal craft acrylics.  They do dry faster than these particular golden paints.  (Golden makes lot of different types of paints.)  To me they have a smell.  Also, on paper they feel different than the goldens.  

I made about 30 prints.  It didn't feel like that many and I could have kept going.  My book has like 1000 pages---That's a LOT of cards in the making! ;)  In this picture you see the shiny red "material?"  That is where sequins are punched from.  It has a name of which I cannot think of at this time.  It makes a cool print on the gelli plate.

So the prints on the left are the goldens and the right are the craft acrylics.  

This is one of my favorite prints.  You can see that there is enough paint to not care about columns and charts on the paper.  And I haven't added stamps or die cuts to it yet.  This is from the regular acrylics.

I enjoyed playing and hope to make some more soon.  I have these stacked up and ready for cardmaking.  As a matter of fact I am working on a card for Friday that uses one of these backgrounds-so be sure to stop back by!
