A Nice Pumpkin Card

Hello Everybody!

Are you ready for the new challenge at Creative with Stamps?  I am!  The picture is inspiring for the fall season and the colors are nice and rich.  You can use the inspiration picture or the colors-or both! :)

For my card I used the Pumpkin Vine Digi Stamp from our sponsor QKR Stampede.  I used distress inks to watercolor the pumpkin vine image.  The dots are from Fiber-Castell's gold lux paste and the faded dots stencil by Tim Holtz.  The sentiment is from Hot off the Press-a fabric sticker.  I also used frosted film.

I used Tim Holtz's frosted film on the digi image after I finished painting and coloring it.  It's a thin film that goes over paper.  It's very subtle.  Here is the before:

Here is the after.  You can see how it sparkles when the light hits it.  It cuts easy and gives my card a little extra uumph.  :)

Hey Pilgrim Layout

Hello Everybody!

We have such a fun 1 page sketch challenge over at Stick It Down.  And when you are done with that we have a double page and card sketches too! :)  

I was glad that I had turkey pictures to scrap.  I am embracing Fall and this worked out perfectly! I made the pilgrim and the pilgrim hat from the silhouette.  (I love making things from the Silhouette!)

I used a frame on the center picture.  I always want to use more frames-so this makes me happy as well! :)

Pumpkins!

Hello Everybody!

It's October and that means there is a new challenge at House of Cards!  Yay!  And I love how this challenge runs with the fall season.

So you can use the color inspiration palette or create a card with lots of texture.  :)

So I used texture for my card.  I embossed the pumpkins and used a piece of adhesive burlap from Tim Holtz.  (Which side note was easy to cut and apply to this card.)  I used a G Studio stamp and chocolate chip Stampin Up in.  All of these papers are Stampin' Up also!  (Thanks to a friend of mine who gave me it!) :)

I used the Just for You sentiment because there are some fall birthdays in my family and this card could be Halloween or Thanksgiving or somewhere in between the two-so why not keep my options open. ;)

Friday Fun with Great Impressions!

Hello Everybody!

It's my turn at the Great Impressions Blog to show you a creation using stamps from the Great Impressions Store.

I used these stamps to create this card:  E551 Too Cute Pumpkins and D330 Happy Thanksgiving.

I used a Tim Holtz Stencil (and that's his Crackle paper for the base).  I mixed So Safron Stampin Up re-inker with light modeling paste to create the spots.  I used Martha Stewart glitter around the circle.  (I really have been wanting to use glitter.  Yay!)  I colored to the pumpkins with Stampin Up stamps.

The sentiment-I cut out and put on the Tim Holtz mover/shaker shape.  Then I added 2 brads and pop dotted it.

Autumn Elegance at Great Impressions!

Hello Everybody!

Today starts a new challenge at Great Impressions!  You can play along with whatever stamps you have.  This month the theme is Autumn Elegance. :)

When I think autumn-my mind thinks of turkeys and leaves!  So I stamped F334 Henry the Turkey on a piece of muslin and colored him with Copic markers.  For the sentiment I used D330 Happy Thanksgiving.  I used a burlap like ribbon and some leaf sequins to finish of my card.  I also used a brown copic marker to outline the green base of the card.

Another Thanksgiving Card

Hello Everybody!

Time is ticking as I am trying to get all of my Thanksgiving cards done.  Eek!  I am so thankful for all of the challenges-they are really helping my mojo!

365 Cards has a challenge everyday (AWESOME!).  I have lurked there for some time-but tonight inspiration hit me.  So here is the first card I am linking to 365 Cards Day 327 Beautiful Background Day 5.  The challenge is to keep the background free of things, to use lots of white space.

Here is my card:

I used a Tim Holtz embossing foler and an embossing diffuser.  The embossing diffuser I used was an oval at the bottom so when I ran the folder with the paper through (along with the diffuser)-it did not emboss an oval at the bottom.  That is how I stamped the sentiment.  Then I heat embossed the pumpkin and cut it out.  I adhered it with a couple of pop dots.  Then I stamped the leaf and cut it out but I just glued it down like normal.

There is a piece of kraft paper under the tree embossed paper.  I inked the edges to give it a little added effect.

Mysterious Card...

Hello Everybody!

At Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge they are having a fun challenge called "It's a Mystery."  It's where you might use something or do something in a "mysterious" fashion.  Check out the DT projects too, they are fabulous!

So here is my card:

For the background  I used Tim Holtz's Distress paints=scattered straw, persimmon, walnut stain and a bit of peeled paint.  Then I used his distress ink walnut to distress the edges.  I didn't use any water for the background.  But the mystery is in the flower...I didn't emboss white cardstock for the flower.

The mystery is in the flowers.  I used the T.H. tattered floral die and cut the shapes out of Mon Ami Crepe paper.  Then I painted it with some of the diistress paint and again no water.  I used bronze for the flower int he very back.  Mystery solved!

For the sentiment I used a Tim Holtz mover and shaker shape and scattered straw distress ink.  Tim's little letters and some brown ink to outline the shape.

Cute Lil' Turkey

Hello Everybody!

I am working on my Thanksgiving cards.  And Catch the Bug Challenge is having a fun Bingo Challenge.  This turned out to be a perfect combination!  There is still a day to check it out. :)

Here is my card using a Bugaboo Turkey:

I used the column going down on the right side-Bugaboo image, ribbon (the brown going down the left side), and brown and orange colors.  The pattern paper is Jenni Bowlin.  And the sentiment is a G Studio from long ago (when they were still a $1) ;)  And the other papers were scraps (yay!).  Oh and I colored my turkey with Copic Markers.

A Thankful Tree

Hello Everybody!
Wow-It has been a while since I have posted a creative project!  Where have I been?  I've been doing things for my son's birthday party that he had on Saturday.  I made a Lego Man Pinata and his lego goodie bags amongst other party related things.  So now I am doing Thanksgiving cards.  Eek!  Time's a-ticking!

The awesome folks at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge are doing Thanks/Thanksgiving for this week's challenge.  What better motivation?

Here is my Thansgiving card.  For the tree I used a tree top stamp from Gelatins.  I put scattered straw, spiced marmalade, and walnut stain on the stamp and stamped the tree.  Then I rolled the leaves that are falling and the ones on the ground.  I used a brown copic marker to make the tree.  The pattern paper is Bella Blvd along with some scrap cardstock and 3 gold sequins.

Tidbit Tuesday-A little hand and some old papers go a long way!

Hello Everybody!

How's that for a title?  I've been  a little busy this past couple of weeks getting things ready for my little's one's birthday party that was Saturday.  It was a success but talk about wearing me out!  Then I added Thanksgiving cards to my list-and succeeded!  Let me take care of business and then I can show you what I made!

For Fun Challenges:  Thankful-I'm thankful for the little hand I borrowed to make these cards :)

Here's my card.  I painted my son's hand multiple times.  I made different variations, but I was in spaz mode trying to get them made and sent out that I realized it too late.  I took only one picture.

Do any of ya'll still have these paper pads from Provo Craft?  I have 2 for Fall, one for Christmas, and made 2 or 3 others.  They are like circa 2000.  LOL.  This is a country look that I am not really into anymore!  But they work great for Thanksgiving!  :)  I would use a full sheet to cut backgrounds and then used the scraps on other cards because I could only make 3 (I think) backgrounds from each sheet.  They are 8X11 (or so) and my cards are 5.5 inches by 4 inches.  It reduced scraps which is nice.

 Here is my stack of Thanksgiving hands.  My son would only make 12 so there were a few people on my list I wasn't able to send a card too.  :(  I hope they won't be mad.

I painted each finger and his hand and thumb with acrylic paint (over and over again).  Then I put googly eyes on the turkeys.  This costs a little extra at the post office.  But goggly eyes are so fun! :)

Turkey Day Cards!

How did this week just fly by?  Is it because there is SOOO much stuff to do?  I think so! 

And getting those Thanksgiving cards ready is on the list!  Now here is a funny story.  2 years ago I was very pregnant and was gluing googly eyes to these little turkeys I bought at Joanne's (for $1!).  My son was due in December...he came early--a month early!  So I didn't send Thanksgiving cards out that year.  Last year he turned 1 but I was so busy between Halloween and his first birthday that I worked on Thanksgiving cards, but it was too late to send them out.  But this year they are done!  And they are going out this year!  LOL!

The turkeys are felt turkeys from Joanne's 2 years ago.  I think I bought them in October though.  It's one of those things that you have to buy right then, because if you go back later they will be all gone.  Same way with those cute G Studio stamps for a $1.  Those are some great stamps I think for the price!

These are basically the same.  Background + turkey (with or without matting) + a decoration

I had some canvas ribbon that I stamped gobble on which was fun to do.  Also, I inked around the edges of some of the mats and backgrounds.  Patterned paper and solid cardstock both worked well for these cards.  

I used a felt pumpkin border for one card.  And leaf stickers were a fun accent to use, also.

If you look there is a turkey with 3 eyes.  My husband suggest that---a little radio active turkey joke ;)
