Dinosaurs!-Scrapbook Layout

Hello Everybody!

This is the weekly sketch over at Let's Scrap.  I haven't made any pages in awhile so I was happy to see this sketch.  Cheri O'Neill created this lovely sketch.

Here is my layout based on the sketch.  I am not going to pretend that I am good at photographing layouts.  I'm not-however I am going to look at it as practice for every scrapbook page I post.  :)  I should get better eventually....although no matter how much I sing, I don't seem to improve ;)

Here's the first page.  I used the Cricut cartridge Boys will be Boys to make the dinosaur.  I gave him googly eyes.

The flying dinosaur (I know what it called but I don't think I can spell it.) is from My Mind's Eye.  The dinosaur paper  is from American Crafts.  It's rather a busy piece of paper so I like how I was able to use it here.  Cordination, Recollections, and Bazzill are the cardstocks that I used.

Here's the 2nd page.  The T-rex stickers at the top are from Creative Imaginations.  The ribbon that outlines the bottom of the yellow paper-I don't know what brand it is, I received it in a ribbon swap.  I think it gives some texture to the pages.

Takin' it back--Old School

Hey Everybody!

I made a scrapbook layout for Challenge 131 at Let's Scrap.  The challenge was to use ordinary photos, tell why they were special, and use stuff that you used when you first starting scrapping.  No Slice, no Cricut, and I don't even know what else.

So this challenge got me thinking.  I am so used to having my stuff that what did I use back in the day?  My scrapbooking has evolved.  Let me share this story.  I volunteered to do the scrapbook for high school band.  I wanted it to have 3-D effects.  I wanted people to feel the texture (though I didn't know what texture was at the time. I used puff paint.  That was the worst idea ever!!  We had to put freezer paper in between each page so the pages wouldn't stick.  It was terrible.  I think back and still feel really bad.  I wouldn't blame them if they threw it away!  LOL In 1994 who knew I was just ahead of my time? ;)

Some how that did not stop me from my scrapbooking journey.  Here is a page from my college days.  This is actually in one of those book that the clear film covers the sticky page--yeah those photo albums.  I know they are bad for pictures but there is only so much time!  My roommate in college made the little monster embellishments.

So fast forward to 2003/2004 I don't know because I didn't put dates in.  WHAT!?  I know I know.  Really?  So this is a spiral bound book and I adhered colored scrapbook paper to the page.  Ahh...foamies and little die cut trees....Maybe I should have bought a magazine?  I was probably too hard headed and thought I would figure it all by myself.  ;)

 Here's another early page.  I did buy magazines...not just scrapbooking ones.  This is from a trip I took with a friend to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA.  Again with the cling pages, and I used this quote cut out of a magazine.

The quote is really funny when you look at the pictures.  Here is the close up of me.  I loved that they had these photo opps.  I also admire that I chose a funny and ironic quotation to go with the photos.  I don't think I'm that good now, so somebody must've helped me with it! ;)

Here's the last page I am going to show you...  I used a post card and made a little shape with decorative scissors that cut the pieces out on both sides.

So I have paper from that long ago.  And I may even have one of those trees left and I definitely have a variety of Foamies to choose from.  So for my layout I tried to use only paper, tools, and stickers that I had from about 10 years ago.  That's crazy when I write it out.  LOL  Also, this is during a time that Ebay was starting up along with my addiction to Ebay.  So I bought shapes and stickers from Ebay, which I still have.  Oh and fibers too!  I have many little bags of fibers.  Like I thought they were going to stop making them or something.  And then you go to the craft store to figure out that it's fancy yarn.  What the what?!?!

Ok, so on with the post...here is my entry to the challenge....

Here's the sketch from Let's Scrap (from 9.1.11).

Here is the left side.  This is a paper pad from Provo Craft--copy write 2003.  I used a green mulberry paper behind the middle picture and for the title.  The title I used little Foamies letters.  Originally, I didn't know if I was going to do an 8X10.  But with the sketch I used and the size of my pictures it only felt right to do 12X12.  Plus it would look funny in whatever album I put it in.  So I made the first 2 strips of paper 2.5 inches wide and left them 11 inches long.  The bigger piece of pattern paper I cut off 2 inches and then used decorative scissors on the edge.

This is the second page and it mirrors the first page, but flips it.

Here's my journaling block.  No computers for back in the day.  That's ok.  I do love this one sheet that was in the Provo Craft paper pad.  Maybe I can make some with alochol inks.  :)

Happy Halloween--2005

Hello Everybody!

Right now there is a use metal Challenge going on at Let's Scrap.  So I got out my Halloween stuff.  I have lots of metal embellishments there!

Here's the sketch....

This is the first time that I changed it up as much as I did.  I didn't have a CD or a tag to put on this layout.  So at first the witch was in that spot and then I moved her to the outside of the page because I thought it looked better there.

The paper-black is Recollections cardstock.  Orange polka dot--Making Memories  I don't know the green ooze brand but I got it at Michaels and had to use it.  I bought it a while back but it's so fun!

So here are some of my metal embellishments...

As I was looking at the witch, I thought about a door.  Well these are the only hinges I have and there are 3 different ones here in this package.  So I just used the smaller and midsize one together.  Sometimes you just have to make it up as you go along ;)

For the door I used my embossing stylus and a cutter and used the groove to make the embossed lines.  I used walnut Distress Inks to color the door and a brad for the door knob.  The door doesn't open.

For this page the bat (Tim Holtz) and the little trick or treat ghost are metal, too.

The swords are metal here and there is a metal bottle cap.  The key is Martha Stewart but I don't know if it's metal or plastic disguised and metal.  It was light in weight when I peeled it from the package.  Either way it still looks cool, and I'm glad I was able to use one!

This is the Karen Foster paper that my title was cut out of.  It was the perfect size!

At Mamere's Scrapbook Page

Hello Everybody!

I am still working on my cards for the Blog Hop.  I think I have 12 more left.  Here's my plan: finish my cards, take photos of them, put them on the computer, upload to Let's Scrap, then revisit the respective blogs and post the cards' URLS.  No pressure!  ;)  Then I will blog them (and there's a bunch of them) here as time is quickly running out on me!

However, in the meantime I have made a 2 page layout with this week's Let's Scrap sketch by Cheri O'Neil:

Here's my 2 page layout.  Instead of hearts, I used snowflakes.  All of the paper I used came from DCWV The Winter Magic Stack.  Beautiful papers...and when I saw Mamere's Christmas tree, I knew I needed this paper stack!

Here is the journaling.  This is written on white cardstock from Recollections, and I forgot the title is DCWV stickers on a piece of Bazzill cardstock.

Here's a close up of the snowflakes.  They are plastic pieces, and so cool.

Here's the bag.  I bought them at the Scrapbook Expo last year for $1--no lie.  I bought 2 packs!

My Mind's Eye Challenge--All Boy

Hello Everybody!

Can you believe that Christmas is like 7 days away?  I can't!  So much to do!  But I had to stop and do this challenge!  I love My Mind's Eye!  A couple of years ago I bought Abbey Road--paper, ribbons, and brads because they were so cute, and I had just had my son.  So now I'm using them!  Yay!

Here is my collection of Abbey Road.

Here is my page.  Even the big green dinosaur is My Mind's Eye-though not the Abbey Road collection.  I have had that dinosaur for awhile!  It's copyright says 2003, and that's probably as long as I've had it!


There's a brad between all the pictures too.  I had a lot of fun doing this page! 

The letters are American Crafts.

I Heart Christmas Layout

Hello Everybody!

I have been working on a scrapbook page.  It's for 2 challenges at the same time!  Whew!  When you combine 2 scrapbook layout challenges--challenge is definately a good word to describe it!  So let me show you!

Here my page:

Here is the sketch by Cheri O'Neill.

My base paper is black cardstock.  Then red snowflake paper from KI Memories, and then I put a shiny green Bazzill cardstock-Emerald City, on next.

The strip on the right side is from Creative Imaginations.  The sketch called for journaling or a quote so I thought this paper fit that perfectly.

I almost missed that one of my pictures needed to be framed!  Yikes!  So this Reminisce Candy Cane Stripe came in handy!

I used my Cricut for my handmade embellishment.  The cartridge I used was Celebrate with Flourish.  This Christmas tree is perfect!  Originally you had a red star to cut out for it.

I used Glossy Accents and filled in the flourishes and now they are shiny!

That red star wasn't cuttin' it.  I punched out a yellow one from some scrap paper.

Awesome!  The ornaments that I cut out were red also.  I put red Stickles glitter on them. 

For my brads I used a Snowman Brad Buddy.  3 Brads--done!

I used 2 photos and a tag.  My heart is a heart shape in the title.  Followed the sketch.  It's a Christmas page.  Oh there are 2 ribbons--one on the tag and 2 red ribbons with snowflakes next the journaling on the left.  Yay!  And I really lik how it came out.
