Rainbow Christmas

 Hello Everybody!

Happy December! Christmas is on it's way and I know I am very excited about that!

This month for the Rainbow Card Challenge we are all about Festive Rainbow! And this is a grand finale if you will.  This is our last challenge at the Rainbow Card Challenge.  It makes my heart sad, too.  Hey friend-"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened" -Dr. Seuss.  So true right!

We have had some good times and beautiful colors to be inspired by.  Some were challenging colors like Sage and Mauve (for me). Thank you to everyone who has joined our challenges over the years.  Big Hugs friends!

Now here's my card:

Rainbow Christmas is a challenge for me too-LOL. I am so programmed with red and green. But I love how this card came out. The background is funky and there is a lot of Time Holtz. Tim inks and villianous potion distress with his smaller snowflake stencil are in the background.  I used glitter white cardstock for the snowy ground. The buildings are from the silhouette design store. Santa is from Die-Versions.  The sentiment is a sequin.  And the little trees, deer, wreath, and snowman are Sizzix Tim Holtz.

The deer is from tiny snowglobes. The snowman and wreath are from Christmas minis. Now let me tell you about the wreath.  It is actually the inside piece to the wreath you cut out. And the bow is trimmed along the "strings" that hang down and the bow part itself.  And then I used a whole punch to make it into a wreath.

Make sure you stop by the Rainbow Card Challenge to see all of the beautiful inspiration there and to say good bye. :)

I am on instagram if you would like to follow me there :) just look for iliketocutandpaste

Until next time my friends have a wonderful holiday!

Festival of Trees Layout

 Hello Friends!

I was very inspired by the sketch at Stick It Down.  I love that wreath on the second page of the layout.  I also love Paige Evans-I am in her facebook group and she shares projects using her die cuts and paper lines.  So I saw the wreath on the sketch and my mine was like I can use a Paige Evans die cut.  So I did!

I am also submitting this layout to Challenge YOUrself-Anything Goes #84. I'm on the second page ;)

Here's my layout followed by the sketch:

I used an old Stampin Up kit called Christmas Jingle.  It was perfect because I was having problems matching all of the the other Christmas paper I had. LOL. The Merry Christmas Paper is from Hobby Lobby.  The border on the left is also from the kit. For the journal block I used decorative edge scissors. I have a lot of them, and I am trying to use them :) So yay! Then there are various brads and stickers and a tree button and a Making Memories square there to decorate.

Here is the die cut wreath before I filled in with little papers. I am just happy my silhouette cut it out LOL. I know that sounds silly but I don't always have luck with intricate cuts.  I took the speed down by one and maybe that helped.  I was very proud of it LOL.

So here are the insides of the images.  They are so cute! I wanted to save them but I do no possess the patience for such an undertaking. I started and realized this. LOL.  I watched a video on Paige's youtube where she offers a few different ways to back the die cut. I chose flipping it over and tracing the paper I wanted it to go on (traced on the backside of it). Then cut it out with a border so I could glue it onto the die cut outline.  It took a few days a couple of hours here and there.

Ta Da! I used glitter paper, pattern paper, scraps, and even a paper where I had sprayed a pretty color on (the bell).  It was fun.  My husband wanted me to make it into a real wreath. He's so sweet! :) It's a little small but maybe that is an idea for later down the road.

I have to show you one more die cut on this layout:

I got this as a little gift from Taylored Expressions for an order. I love it! And thought it fit perfect here.  They send the cutest little thank you gifts. I have others that I think are great. They didn't pay me for this advertisement but I think you should know!  :)

Thank you for stopping by! Until next time my friends!

Rainbow Card Challenge

 Hello Everybody!

I hope that your Thanksgiving was great.  Hopefully you got to do some crafting!

This month we are creating rainbow Christmas cards at the Rainbow Card Challenge.  I thought this would be easy-lol however for me it was truly a challenge.  But that's the wonderful thing about challenges right? to push creativity and to look at our wonderful supplies in a new way.

Here is my card:

I used: Paige Evans Star stencil
Distress Oxide Inks--picked raspberry, wilted violet, peacock feathers, abandoned coral, citron, spiced marmalade
Distress Ink-Squeezed Lemonade
Hero Arts stamp and sentiment from 2013
Stickles for his scarf and band on hat
Random star jewels
Prisma Color Markers

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you join this colorful Christmas challenge!
Until next time my friends-always be crafting! :)

Christmas Thank You Cards With Palm Trees and Flamingos

Hello Everybody!

Happy New Year! I love January because there is this energy of new hope and goals.  And they are achievable because nothing is going on right now LOL.  And then once February comes along and time starts to go faster and the calendar fills up with obligations.  But until then-I am going to enjoy January! :)

So I was able to make some Christmas Thank you cards in the nice quiet after the new year.

I have used this stamp before-it's from Close to My Heart.  An oldie but a goodie.  I used a paper pad from the Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) for the backgrounds and cardstock.  On this card I used gold ink from Colorbox. And also some cardstock.

This one has Paper Studio background paper.  Close to my Heart stamp and the die cut sentiment is one of my favorites from Queen and Company.

So the next set of stamps have flamingos from Taylored Expressions.  This is the first time I have used stamps from them.  I also got the matching die cuts and that is a wonderful thing!  Most of the time I am a fussy cutter but with their skinny little legs it's nice to have the matching die.

Some pop dots and twine were added to this one.  And that sentiment is a Fiskars stamp (also used above).

Glittery Stickles close up :)

For this card I added a present stamp from Stampin Up.  It's fairly new-I think released last year.

A big thank you for stopping by!  Until next time! :)

Sweet September Projects

Hello Friends!

I have more cards to share with  you from September.

I made two sympathy cards with different backgrounds.  I was inspired by Pinterest.  I used Nuovo drops in the centers of the embossed flowers.

This card was fun.  Some mixed media and paper dolls.  And I had this flamingo ribbon that I loved (of course-I love flamingos!) So even though it doesn't go stylistically, I thought it was fun and brings a little quirky to the card.

My paper doll roll doesn't stop there.  I loved making the background and using the paper dolls and this sept sticker.  Everything is Tim Holtz except the buttons and clock in the corner.

And then I totally change gears.  I have these ornament making kits that I have had FOREVER.  And I think was scared of them.  But something pinged from within and I sat down and figured them out.  And I love making them.  I have 1 more kit and 1 more silver ornament to make.  And the kit makes 2.  I'm ready to order more!

Thank you for stopping by!  I'm going to start working on the next post.  See you soon! :)

Hello Santa Layout

Hello Everybody!

Today I finished a layout page using the single sketch at Stick It Down.  I love the triangles!  And thankfully one of the team members-Melissa Kay-told how to make these triangles.  You make a 4 inch square and cut it in half.  What??  Yeah that easy--and thank goodness because until I visited her blog I had no idea.  LOL  Geometry and I have never gotten along--especially since high school.  But that's a story for a different day.

I used a glitter paper from Recollections.  Most of the papers, letters, and stickers are from Doodlebug.  I don't know what the collection is called but it was one of my favorites from a few years ago.  Also, there are some Tim Holtz stars at the top, clear rhinestones, a bling candy cane from Hobby Lobby and some Thickers (the red metallic corners).

Here's the sketch.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...keep that Christmas spirit coming even if it's January! :)

Reindeer Card

Hello Everybody!

I feel like I have not been here in FOREVER!  Oh wait-seeing the date of my last post-I haven't.  Oh my goodness!  I promise I haven't fallen off of the earth.  And I have been doing crafty things-it's just been tough to get them all posted.  So finally some time!  It's good to be back! :)

I am super excited to share with you this card I made.  My friend who loves her kids' bus driver needed another Christmas card.  I was looking around the 'Net for some ideas and when I went to Creative with Stamps the inspiration hit.  Their challenge was reindeer.  And that moment-I saw a school bus being pulled by reindeer.  The next step was to make it happen.  :)

So here is my card:

The background are Tim's new Distress Oxides.  And the bus, reindeer, and buildings are all thanks to my Silhouette.  The sentiment is an Inkadinkado Stamp.  The stars are Queen and Company.  Googly eyes, and the black noses are like flat round dots they used to sell-LOL They were popular a while ago.  And the red nose for Rudolph is a red gem that was in my stash.

The bus-which is totally adorable to me is cut from cardstock and then the yellow is from Doodlebug glittery yellow cardstock.  I put a layer of acetate for the windows-but I don't know if it really mattered.  It seemed like more of a challenge with that layer so I don't know for next time.

And I love the sentiment-it was the perfect size and it had stars too.  :)

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope everyone has a Happy New Year! :)

One More Christmas Card

Hello Everybody!

Wow!  It is almost a New Year.  It's always exciting-like a fresh start-when the new year comes around.  New goals are set.  Last year my goal was to set more glitter.  And do you know what?  I failed.  LOL!  I think I used less glitter last year than I ever have.  And I'm talking about all glitter-glitter paper, loose glitter, and Stickles.  I realized this toward October or November.  But really too late to fix it.  Oh well.

So for now-I haven't made any real goals yet.  I just want to make more stuff. :)  And share it with you guys. :)

So I have a Christmas card to share.  The last one for the year.  And it's for someone my husband works with who likes the vintage style of cards.  So when he asks me to make her one-I happily do because I love this style too.

The pink note background paper is My Mind's Eye from their Love and Found collection (a few years old).  The mistletoe is a button.  The floss is floss.  And everything else is Tim Holtz!   Even the corrugated panel.  I did use a little gesso on the panel to brighten it up.

Here is a closeup of the charm.

I even stamped the inside! (Which I am proud of my self for doing because I usually leave it blank.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I would like to link up to the following challenges:

{Pin}spirational Challenges #181:  Photo inspiration-I love this picture.  I pulled the pink and blue from this.  I love how feminine this picture feels to me and hopefully I transferred some of that to the card.

Mid Month Reminder CWS Bus Card

Hello Everybody!

We are half way through with December.  And I don't know about you-but it went by way faster than I wanted it too!

We have some great inspiration for our challenge at Creative with Stamps.  We want to see cards using Christmas stamps.

Here is my Christmas card.  And it was inspired by a friend of mine.  She asked me if I could make a card for her kids' bus driver.  Of course I said. :)  So I went to the Silhouette store and came back with this cool school bus shaped card.  I added the 3-D Christmas lights from Jolee's and an elf sticker from Hobby Lobby.  I put the elf on white paper and cut it out so he would stand out better.

I thought this was a super cute idea for a card.  And we have a bus driver that we love so I made another one...

The elves are a little different but other than that-the same.  :)

Be sure to join our challenge!

Don't forget to include this graphic on your entry!

Thank you for stopping by!

Until next time my friends...Merry Christmas! :)

Christmas Card Time

Hello Everybody!

Are you making Christmas cards?  If you use a Christmas stamp you can link your card up to our Creative with Stamps Challenge!

For my card I used a Heidi Swapp stencil and this cool glossy paste from Recollections that I found at Micheals.  Then I stamped this cute reindeer from Hero Arts and colored him with copic markers.  I adhered him with pop dots and rounded the corners.

And I stamped the inside since I didn't have a sentiment on the outside.  This fun sentiment is from Great Impressions.

Also, stop by to see what awesome cards my teammates have created!

Be sure you join us and remember to check the rules.  You'll need our graphic for sure.  The rest of the rules are here.

I would like to link this card to the following challenges:

Until next time my friends...it's Christmas time! :)

House of Cards Holiday Blog Hop

Hello Everybody!

Get excited because it is time for the House of Cards Holiday Blog and Design Team Call!  You should have arrived here from Katarina's blog.

This is sort of a sad thing-but this will be my last post for House of Cards for the time being.  Life has gotten busy for me and I love Mynn and the ladies so much.  But I don't want to let anyone down (by being flakey lol).  I have been with House of Cards for 2 years (since July 2014).  It doesn't feel like 2 years-that's for sure.  :)

So if you are looking for a nice place to be on a Design Team where everyone is friendly and creative then you should apply here.  :)

So to participate in the blog challenge be sure to leave everyone a comment.  Also, use this inspirational photo to create a card and upload it to House of Cards.

I made 2 cards for the blog hop.  This first card is inspired by the over all theme of Christmas and I love the red in this picture.

The main image for this Christmas card is Cute as a Button.  This kitty digi is super cute and you will have to get a closeup of his list!  I colored this image with Copic markers and used Stickles to accent the snow and snowflakes.  I used a glitter ornament border and a wooden Christmas tree that I painted.  (It might be from Studio Calico.)

Here is what I used to paint the tree.  I covered it with gesso first and then painted it with this green paint.  I did put a few coats on it because this particular paint is a bit thinner.

For my second card I used a digi from MHK Designs.  I used the poinsettia and sentiment from the Perfect Poinsettia set.

I tried something new with this card.  It came to me (I don't think I saw it anywhere-I don't think-lol).

So I printed off the poinsettia.  Then I cut a piece of acetate to the size of the printed flower.  The acetate I used is from Clear Scraps so it's a bit thicker than normal acetate.  I also removed the top layer of the protective film.

Then I traced the design with Enamel Accents from Ranger.  *I wanted to use gold at first but the gold I had wasn't working too well.  The Accents came out fast and dried smooth.  I let it dry over night.

Then I added water to my red and green paints.  And used a tiny paintbrush to put the paint inside the raised edges.  It was like painting a sun catcher. :)  I used the gold in this picture for the paper on the base of the card.

Here is the back side of the flower.  I was having a hard time figuring out which side to use.

Here is the front.  You can see how the black accents is a bit more puffy than the photo above.

I added gold dots in the middle from Faber Castell.  It seems more like an ornament. ;)

Here is the finished card again.  I used scattered straw and walnut stain distress ink for the sentiment.

I am linking up my poinsettia card to the challenge at MHK Designs-if you use an MHK design anything goes.

Thank you for stopping by!  Your next stop is Leslie.

If you get lost, here is the blog hop list.

Christmas Flamingos

Hello Everybody!

It's time for a new challenge at Creative With Stamps!  This month we want to see those bird stamps!  Turkeys, pigeons, -whatever birds you have in your stampsets we want to see them!

Don't forget to include this graphic!

Now maybe I should have gone with Turkeys, but the flamingos were talking the loudest to me.  So I made a Christmas card.  The stamp are Greatest Impression.  Here is a closeup of the glitter accents.  Also I colored with copic markers and then with distress ink around the oval.

Here is my card.

Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time my friends...time for Christmas! :)

Stick It Down December Edition

Hello Everybody!

It's time for a new sketch at Stick It Down!  I am in such a Christmas mood that I had to do a Christmas layout. :)

This picture is from 10 years ago.  We were in the local Christmas parade.  This was the best thing ever!  I love being in a parade!  LOL (It doesn't happen very often.)

I made a triangle template from an image at the Silhouette store and cut it out.  Then I used it like a stencil with transparent paste.

I used my silhouette to cut out the title.

Here is the beautiful sketch that inspired this layout.  I love how it makes this layout feel different from other layouts.  I did cheat though-I used paper that had lines on it to help make the bigger triangle cuts.

This is my last layout as a design team member for Stick It Down as of now.  I know I will still play along because they have fantastic sketches!  So if you are looking for scrapbook pages or card layouts-go check them out! :)

Until next time my friends....Merry Christmas! :)
