Rainbow Card Challenge

I hope that your Thanksgiving was great.  Hopefully you got to do some crafting!

This month we are creating rainbow Christmas cards at the Rainbow Card Challenge.  I thought this would be easy-lol however for me it was truly a challenge.  But that's the wonderful thing about challenges right? to push creativity and to look at our wonderful supplies in a new way. 

Here is my card:

I used: Paige Evans Star stencil

Distress Oxide Inks--picked raspberry, wilted violet, peacock feathers, abandoned coral, citron, spiced marmalade

Hero Arts stamp and sentiment from 2013

Hello Everybody!

I am so excited to show you my card!  I made the background for it and I used mica for the first time!  Ok so let's take care of business first and then I can show you my card! :)

So here's my card.  I bought a new little easel to hold my cards.  Yay! :)  I guess I will figure out if I will crop it out but for now there it is.  I also bought in that same little shopping trip some mica bits.  They are from Stampendous and have 5 different colors.  I have seen mica forever-but now I have some.  So I applied glue to the edges of the black cardstock to get it to stick.  I did this after I gold embossed the Eiffel Tower.  Then I sprayed gold Pearls Mist onto it.

Here is my background.  I love this background-so it must be one of the prettiest ones I have made.  LOL!  I used spiced marmalade and bronze distress stain and mustard seed and rusty hinge distress ink.  I applied them to my mat and spritzed a little water.  The result is just awesome!  Then I stamped the script on top.  But that wasn't enough.  So after this picture I went back and added swirls and polka dots using stamps by Stephanie Barnard (I got them a loooong time ago at CKU).

Here's a close up of my card.  The title is made from Making Memories sticker letters.

Autumn in Paris

Hello Everybody!

Wouldn't that be so nice?  I haven't been to Paris ever so I am imagining that autumn would be nice there.  If you've been at that time let me know!  :)  And why do I have Paris on my mind?

At Moxie Fab World it's Tuesday Trigger time!  And here is the picture for this week's Trigger.  There's plenty of time to play so go check it out and be inspired!

Here is the picture, and I think she's well dressed and French.  Plus I can use my Hero Arts Eiffel Tower stamp-and that's awesome!

So using the colors in her shirt and jacket, and pretending she's French, I was inspired to make this card.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp and Show-Favorite Technique.  Right now I am loving Gesso!  That's how the embossed layer was made.  Scroll on down and I show you some highlights!

In the picture here, the left side is an embossed piece of cardstock.  The right side is an embossed piece of cardstock with gesso on it.  It makes the embossing a little thicker.  Then I used Distress Inks which seem to be a bit brighter on the gesso.  This is a blog I found that has different ways to use gesso so I am still figuring my way through.  You can go here to see it.

The first layer of the card is this piece of DCWV scrap cardstock.  Ha! I trimmed it to size and used this-I love it when I can use up a scrap!  :)  Then I put a piece of black card stock on top and then my distressed gesso layer.  I used a gold paint pen to do the border on the Eiffel Tower square.  The Eiffel Tower is from Hero Arts.  The stickers are from Dazzles.
