Tim's August Tag

Hello Everybody!

I am so happy that I was able to make the Tim Holtz Tag this month.  I haven't played in awhile and I missed it.  Though I have made plenty of "sand" from his July tag.  ;)

On his blog he said it was kind of a follow your muse type of deal.  But I enjoy going through the steps that he does because I always learn something.  This month I learned I could stamp on the tissue tape and it would resist distress stain. :)

I was totally inspired by the new Dr. Who episode from last Saturday.  If you still have it on your DVR you may want to scroll on ahead.  ;)  There was this main droid guy in the episode and there were steampunk elements.  I loved it!  So the fella was looking for "paradise."  There is a P that I made from krackle paste (wendi vecchi's) and the eye chart stencil.  I included lots of gears and the hot air balloon.  It was a great episode!

Here is a closeup.  Searching for Paradise :)

I am submitting this tag into the following:

12 Tags of 2014--May

Hello Everybody!

I haven't done a Tim Holtz Tag in what seems like forever!  I didn't have some of the cool stuff (I know next year I need to save my Christmas money for when Winter Cha hits stores!)  To see Tim's tag and the challenge go here.

But I had most of the the stuff needed for this challenge.  I improvised on the debossed folder.  It's on the list!  And I didn't have the metal round frame but I had the words so on a piece of embossed chipboard I spelled out Cool.  But that wasn't cool enough so I had to put glossy accents on it.  Then I messed up the wet glossy accents and tried to fix it.  *sigh*

Most of everything on here is Tim Holtz-even the paper.  There are a few scraps one from Prima under the butterfly and the other is fancy pants under the feather.  That cool wooden feather is from Unique Laser Designs.  The gear is Tim's and it has Tim's cool Patina effect applied to it.  And I used his rub-ons too.

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends....I can't wait until June's tag! :)

January Tag

Hello Everybody!

I just finished my Tim Holtz January Tag.  Yay!  It was really fun to do.  I finally bought Pumice stain and distress ink-and let me tell you-I am so glad I did.  It really is a great grungy color to have.  I would say a must have color.

I used twine for the tie part of this tag.  I used a little black soot distress ink to make it darker.  I am also submitting this tag to Simon Says Wednesday Challenge:  Anything Goes with Twine or String.

So here is my tag:

I used a stamp from 7 Gypsies for the numbers down the side.  I didn't have the rub-on that Tim uses.  I did try to blot it with a paper towel to give it a distressed look but it didn't get as distressed as I would have liked it.  I should have practiced first.

I did flick the paint-that is so fun!  Also, it is like a mist.  Next time I will use my mist box-LOL.  There are a few things now that have black soot dots on them but it's ok.  :)

Here is a close up of the pocket watch.  My sister bought me the circles for Christmas and I am soooo glad she did!  It made doing this a whole lot easier!  I need more little gears though-my supply is running out.  And I love the way Tim makes these words from labels to like banners with the triangle cut on the end.  Why couldn't I think of that? ;)

My sentiment on the tag is different than his.  I couldn't find my enjoy the journey stamp but in searching for it I did run across this one.  It came in a birthday stamp set-but how perfect for January!

Thank you for stopping by!!  Until next time my friends...stay warm it's cold out there. :)
