Bentley Bear Happy Birthday Card

Hello Everybody!

Hope all is going well with you! I've been working on a few things and one is now ready to share!

I am entering this card into 2 challenges:

Wee Memories WMC76--Challenge #76 - Sponsored by Nikki Sivils! Theme: Birthdays and Parties

The Cuttlebug Spot Challenge--Anything Goes!

Go and check these blogs out! So many great and creative people out there!

Here is my Happy Birthday Card....Scroll on down and I'll show you how I made it!

The stamps are Bentley Bear that I received free from my Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine. (Love it!)

First I ink my balloon holding bear with Versa Mark Ink and then put black embossing powder over him. Next I turn on my heat gun and let the powder do its magic!

I cut out my bear, and I am careful with the areas around the strings. I leave the insides as they are.

Using my new Copic markers, I color in my image. Copic markers are totally new to me, and I think I need to get some new stamps to maximize their use! LOL! Here are the colors I used: light suntan, prawn, ultramarine, cadmium yellow, and moss.

This is the background I adhered to my base card. I thought he would look cute against the sky. :)

I got out my Going Places Cricut cartridge and cut out different size clouds to go in the sky. I put my bear against one of the clouds to sort of hide the white in between the strings for the balloons.

The 2nd stamp comes from the same set. Sometimes they work on a hard surface and sometimes on a mouse pad. This is me trying to find the best looking image.

This tag is small so I use a paper piercer to make a whole in it.

Because I am going to wrap twine around my card, I made a small hole to put the twine through.

I used a paper needle (bigger than sewing needles) to loop the twine through each time.

When I have added enough twine, I put a glue dot underneath the end of the twine so it would stick but not show. This is Martha Stewart's twine.

Here's my finished card.

I did a little something on the envelope...The cat was colored in with cool grey 1 and 2 (Copics), and the rest was with colored pencils. Until next time my friends...have a good day!

I have not heard of Copic markers. What are they?

Hi Carly!

Check out this site:

http://www.copicmarker.com/products/markers

At the bottom they have tips and techniques (which I need to read more of!) and it shows you what they are capable of. You can also buy a spray apparatus where you use the marker and do a spray paint type application. Very cool (I don't have one of those...yet) ;) They are vibrant and can be blended which is why they are used. Local scrapbook stores and Michaels carries them, plus online.

Hi. I got one set of the Bentley Bear stamps but may I know where did you get the transparent base for the stamps?

Hi Mabel!

The transparent base is a mounting block for clear stamps. I bought that particular one at Michael's Craft store. Any place that sells stamps, generally should sell blocks too. If you have Tim Holtz fragments, you can use those for the bases also. I hope that helps! Thanks for stopping by! :)
