Shaker Card

Hello Everybody!

I hope April was a crafty month for ya'll.  It seemed very crafty for me!  I am hoping for lots of crafty time in May, also.  :)

Hopefully, ya'll will stop by House of Cards and see our new challenge which is to use acetate!  I have finally-FINALLY made a shaker card.  And I am sooo excited!

The shape is from Silhouette.  As a matter of fact they have the background, the frames, and the acetate part part included in one design.  Click here to see it.  And the silhouette cuts acetate!  You can click here to see how to do that.

So here is my card:

Here is a reflection off of the acetate.  The sequins can move around (they shake!).  But I left one of the frames off and I should have put it in.  I think they will move much better on the next one I make.  (There will be more!) :)

Here is a side view.  Under the glitter layer the frames are glued on top of each other.  So clever!

Be sure to check out my teammates for more inspiration!

Beach Frame

Hello Everybody!

I am super excited to show you my project for the Great Impressions Blog.  This week we are showing you fun summery creations that you can use your stamps for!

I used 3 stamps to make this beach frame.  They are: F549 Hot Air Balloon, D421 Lucky Enough, D404 Blowing Bubbles.  You can find these and other awesome stamps at the Great Impressions Online Store!

This is how the frame started.  It's a paper mache frame from Joann's.  I didn't take any pictures of how I did the background.  I used Distress Paints Broken China and Salty Ocean over the whole frame.  Then I made sand.  I used Tim Holt'z technique here to make it.  I substituted a couple of items on the recipe-due to brands.  But if it said glitter I used glitter.  However, I did use the antique lined distress embossing powder because that is a main component in the sand making.

I stamped the hot air balloon on acrylic with Ranger's Archival Ink.  I cut out the balloon and one of the clouds.  I wanted you to see the the difference between the original stamp and the parts that I used.

I also stamped the balloon on white cardstock and colored it with Copics.  I cut out the balloon and the basket.

Here is the balloon on the frame.  I used pop dots under the paper parts.  I also have one of the clouds that I colored with a Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen-white.  It dried nicely on the acrylic!  Yay! :)

Here is this super cute crab blowing bubbles!  I colored him with Copics and used salty ocean and scattered straw distress ink in the background.  I used Stickles on his bubble and when those were dry, I fussy cut him out of the cardstock and covered him with Glossy Accents.  The other bubbles are from a Heidi Swapp stencil, transparent embossing paste (by Wendy Vecchi) and some Stampin' Up glitter sprinkled on top.

I would like to submit this beachy frame to the Simon Says Stamp: A Mid-Summer's Challenge.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...time to get my toes in the sand! :)

The Golden Question Mark

Hello Everybody!

I am loving the tag challenges at Dragons Dream Tag It On.  This time the challenge #166 is for the letter Q (a word starting with Q) and the color gold.  You have to incorporate these two items onto your tag.  Now let me tell you-I love an alphabet challenge.  I don't know why.  I don't know if it's my love of Scrabble surfacing but I really do love letters! :)

I chose Question Mark.  This is my ode to the Question Mark.  :)  And if Dr. Evil from Austin Powers enters your head-well that makes two of us.  LOL!

The background of this tag is made with stickers.  Mostly, DCWV because I have a couple of letter sticker packs from them.  Most of them raise a little bit too.  Then I covered this with about 3 coats of gesso.  I found gesso works better if you totally let it dry between coats.  LOL  Live and learn.  When I had this tag floating in my cerebral fog I just want to make it.  Gesso makes you slow down a bit.  ;)

Something I hadn't thought about until midway through is that I needed to use a stamp.  Normally, I incorporate stamps and don't have to think about it...but this time was different.

So I found this butterfly.  I think it's autumn leaves but this butterfly has been around forever.  I stamped it on acetate.  I creased it to give it dimension and adhered him with folded over red-line tape.

Here is a close-up.  I used Distress Paints seedless preserves, picked raspberry, and broken china and used a water brush to try to make them blend.  After that dried (and I let it dry) I used black soot distress ink around the edges.  I also hit the raised ?s with it.  The golden ? is from a set of Tim Holtz punctuation grunge board.  I had to use gold glitter!  I used pop dots to adhere it to the tag.

In my ribbon scraps I found this purple toule.  Perfect!

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends....what's your golden question?  :)
