Stick It Down December Edition

Hello Everybody!

It's time for a new sketch at Stick It Down!  I am in such a Christmas mood that I had to do a Christmas layout. :)

This picture is from 10 years ago.  We were in the local Christmas parade.  This was the best thing ever!  I love being in a parade!  LOL (It doesn't happen very often.)

I made a triangle template from an image at the Silhouette store and cut it out.  Then I used it like a stencil with transparent paste.

I used my silhouette to cut out the title.

Here is the beautiful sketch that inspired this layout.  I love how it makes this layout feel different from other layouts.  I did cheat though-I used paper that had lines on it to help make the bigger triangle cuts.

This is my last layout as a design team member for Stick It Down as of now.  I know I will still play along because they have fantastic sketches!  So if you are looking for scrapbook pages or card layouts-go check them out! :)

Until next time my friends....Merry Christmas! :)

House of Cards Blog Hop!

Hello Everybody!

It is time for the House of Cards Blog Hop!  We are making cards using this festive photo inspiration:

A big thank you to our sponsors!

There are prizes so please make sure you leave a comment for everybody! :)

You should have arrived here from Karen's blog-Karen's Crafting Obsessions.

Here's your hop order~

 House of Cards Challenge Blog

                              Katy *** You are here

For my first card I used 2 stamps from Great Impressions Stamps.  I used Christmas Gracie K100 and this Merry Christmas stamp.  I chose this Gracie because I could color her dress pink-taking the colors from the photo as my inspiration. :)

For my next cards I used MHK Designs.  These are fun vintage designs with awesome papers to match!  These are the sets that I used:

Here is my first card:

This card is small 3.5 X 4 inches.  But I loved the sentiment and papers so much.  I was inspired by the gifts in the photo so I thought it would be cool to make the card a gift.  The paper and sentiment are from MHK Designs.

My next 2 cards feature something in common:

I used my Minc machine from Heidi Swapp to change the images from black to foiled.  I works with a laser printer-so the ski is the limit.  The minc machine is awesome! :)

The colors help to inspire the first card.  The red from the presents and the gold around the presents.

The last card is foiled red and I love this sled!  But there's not sled in the picture?  Those presents had to get there somehow right?

I hope that you have enjoyed my cards.  Check out Lilian's beautiful cards.

Be sure to leave a comment.  Thank you for coming by!  Until next time my friends...good night! :)

House of Cards Time!

Hello Everybody!

Now that Halloween-time is going to fly by and it will be Christmas time.  I tried not to say it-but it's so true!

But on a fun note, since it is now November 1st, it's time for a new challenge at House of Cards!  This month the challenge is to use the stamped punch window technique.  You can go here to see Mynn's video for it.

Here is my stamped punch window:

Here is my whole card.  So I cut a piece of white cardstock smaller than the base of my card and used distress inks to color it.  Then I stamped the wings.  On a separate piece of white card stock I stamped the pocketwatch (by Hot off the Press).  I used walnut stain distress ink on it and a twisted citron under the loop at the top.  I used my hole punch to punch the face off.

I used my Krylon gold pen to line the outer and inner rectangles of the card.  Then I adhered the top panel with pop dots.  After that I put the face of the clock back in and added the sentiment.  They sentiment is from Dylusions.

This is a cool technique.  Make sure you stop by the House of Cards to see everyone's take on this fun technique.  Until next time my friends...Time to go! (and squander my extra hour) ;)

Hey Pilgrim Layout

Hello Everybody!

We have such a fun 1 page sketch challenge over at Stick It Down.  And when you are done with that we have a double page and card sketches too! :)

I was glad that I had turkey pictures to scrap.  I am embracing Fall and this worked out perfectly! I made the pilgrim and the pilgrim hat from the silhouette.  (I love making things from the Silhouette!)

I used a frame on the center picture.  I always want to use more frames-so this makes me happy as well! :)

Thank you for stopping by!  We can't wait to see what you create!  Gobble Gobble! ;)

Pew Pew

Hello Everybody!

I am here with another layout for Let's Get Sketchy!  (Under the wire here!) ;)  This layout is inspired by their Week 4 Sketch.

My son is a Storm Trooper this year for Halloween.  So I love the Halloween Star Wars Mash Up :)  This was regular black card stoc that I sprayed White Dylusions spray on.  It need something in the background.

The sticker under his picture says "Aren't you a little short to be a Storm Trooper?"  It never gets old. :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...Eat lots of candy! ;)

Fabulous Layout

Hello Everybody!

There are some Fabulous Sketches over at Let's Get Sketchy!  The sketch from Week 3 inspired this layout:

I used texture luxe Faber castell paste and a Heidi Swapp stencil to make those chevrons.  I love this paste!  The title is Heidi Swapp's and so is the tag.  The tag is from the Minc Machine (which is totally awesome!)  Then a little misting and small dot stenciling in the background.

Than you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...be fabulous! :)

Got Trend?

Hello Everybody!

I was playing around and made this Halloween card.  I was playing with trends.  The background is a little mixed media-spray, used a stencil, did some paint splatters.  Then I incorporated some feathers.  They're still in style right?  And gold!  I am obsessed with gold.  I used to like it.  Now I am full blown obsessed.  So I used Ranger's sticky embossing powder along with this fabulous gold glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle to outline the ghost.

What do you think?  It's a little different.  Sometimes you have to go out of your comfort zone.  That is what I did. :)

And since Anything Goes at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-I am going to submit this crazy card!

Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time my friends....gold use lots of gold ;)  (just kidding!)

Temple of Portunus

Hello Everybody!

Are ya'll enjoying this beautiful fall weather?  I just want to sit outside without a worry in the world but I also want to scrapbook...Dilemna! ;)

So as I write this I'm inside-not outside but that's ok!  I'm glad to post this scrapbook page for the Let's Get Sketchy Challenge Week 1.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to visit Italy back in April.  And our hotel was across the street from this ancient building.  How cool is that?!?!  So this is about the Temple of Portunus which was a fruit and vegetable market in Ancient Rome.  It is dedicated to Portunus the god or port.  And I used Wikipedia for this information.  :)

Here is the link and sketch-there's still plenty of time to play! :)

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends have a great rest of your day! :)

The Hop to Stop

Hello Everybody!

I was sent an invite to Hop to Stop-a link up where papercrafters create a project for the awareness of Domestic Violence.  October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  "1 in 3 women will be a victim to domestic violence in her lifetime".

As usual I'm late-today is the last day to post to it-but I made it.  I realized that this was more than people showing off creations. This is a movement.  This is people banning together-using crafting-to share stories and support.  And though I love crafting-I love the support of community for a very worthy cause even more.

There are ladies along this link up who share one on one experiences with Domestic Violence.  Their stories are scary, sad, yet uplifting.  These ladies are full of love and very brave.

I do not have a story like this (thankfully), however I do have friends who have experienced such events.  One of my dear friends now has thankfully gotten out of her toxic relationship with her 3 beautiful children.  And some days are better than others-she is getting counseling for all of them and turning it around.  She is much stronger now.  And her oldest daughter who is only 11 is one of the most wisest people I know.  :)

So here is my card-featuring purple-the color representing Domestic Violence:

This is shimmery purple cardstock from Core-dinations.  The heart die cut is from Tim Holtz/Sizzix.  The words (from a song) are made from my label maker and outlined.

There are also sponsors for this Blog Hop-The Hop to Stop.
And here are the wonderful companies who are sponsoring it-Thank you! :)

I encourage you to stop by and see the other cards.  There are over 200!  Thank you for stopping by here today.  :)

I would also like to enter this into the CASology Challenge 168: You

Until next time my friends...until next time

Puddles Layout

Hello Everybody!

This month the sketch at Stick It Down is super fun as we use 6 photos!  I cut my pictures out at 3X3 but you could probably go bigger.

Here's my layout:

I used Echo Park for the background and for the arrow.  The rubber boots I cut from my Silhouette machine and inked them up for definition.  The other papers are from Stampin' Up.  And those orange puffy stickers are from Thickers.  (I still love those letters!)

Here below is transparent paste from Wendi Vechi that I used with a Tim Holtz stencil.  It gives that yellow strip a little something extra without being too much.  :)

Here is this month's sketch.  I hope you like it as much as I do!  We can't wait to see what you create! :)

Until next time my friends...stay dry! ;)

Prayer Books

Hello Everybody,

A while back I realized that I when I prayed for people I would forget a few folks here and there.  So if I thought about someone's mom on the way to the grocery store-I would go ahead and say my prayer in transit.  However, I wanted everyone corralled together.  So I thought of a prayer book.  Just a little notebook that would have people I wanted to prayer for in one place.  And when their situation was resolved I would put a little check by their name.

So I was at Staples when I found these books for a $1!  Then as I was looking at them at the store I decided to buy 10 of them-one for each member of my Bible study and an extra or 2.

So then I was inspired by the challenge at Lessology.  The challenge is to incorporate a book and either a recycled or upcycled item.  Either these $1 books are upcycled and the old dictionary paper is the book part or I am upcycling the old dictionary pages and the notebooks are the book part.  ;)  Also, I looked up images on the Silhouette regarding prayer.  I fell in love with this little praying angel lady.  :)  And here is how these books got made...

Here is one notebook.  The cover is plastic.

I did some online research and saw something like this could work.  It's what I had.  Also, Golden gel medium would work (which I did not have).  I tried gloss gel medium and that was not successful.  The trick is to put a lot of this glue down on the cover.  Also that is old dictionary paper that has already started turning old paper color-LOL!

Here are the finished prayer books.

I used vintage photo distress ink around the edges of all of the boos.  On a couple I added Dusty Concord (purple), Broken China, and Gathered Twigs.  For the halo I used Krylon 18K gold leafing pen.

Here's a closeup using vintage photo distress ink and broken china.

Here's one with just the vintage photo ink.

Dusty Concorde...

The background pages came from this old Encyclopedia of Dictionaries.  It makes me giddy thinking that this big o' book is a 2 in 1! ;)

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends....ahhh I love the smell of old books! :)

Pumpkins!

Hello Everybody!

It's October and that means there is a new challenge at House of Cards!  Yay!  And I love how this challenge runs with the fall season.

So you can use the color inspiration palette or create a card with lots of texture.  :)

So I used texture for my card.  I embossed the pumpkins and used a piece of adhesive burlap from Tim Holtz.  (Which side note was easy to cut and apply to this card.)  I used a G Studio stamp and chocolate chip Stampin Up in.  All of these papers are Stampin' Up also!  (Thanks to a friend of mine who gave me it!) :)

I used the Just for You sentiment because there are some fall birthdays in my family and this card could be Halloween or Thanksgiving or somewhere in between the two-so why not keep my options open. ;)

I hope that you are inspired to create something.  We can't wait to see what you make! :)

Until next time my friends...Happy Fall Ya'll! :)

Ghosts Card

Hello Everybody!

I am making Halloween cards (Yay! Because last year I didn't get to make very many.)  So for this Halloween card, I was inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch!

I used my Silhouette to make the ghosts.  The sentiment is a G Studio stamp with orange embossing powder.  And I had to use all sorts of goggly eyes for the ghosts.  Those eyes really give them character. :)

I would like to submit this card into the following challenges:

Thank you for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...have a boo-tiful day! :)

Glitter Witches

Hello Friends!

How have you been?  It seems like way to much time in between my posts!  But Halloween is coming and so is Christmas so I am hoping to make more projects to share.  :)

This past Saturday I got the treat of going to Michaels.  "Don't go crazy" my sweet husband always says...but it's almost Halloween! ;)  LOL  So I am looking for some Halloween card making paper and all they have are 12X12 stacks (minus the last 8x8 Tim Holtz Halloween that I snatched up).  One of the stacks is like black and gold Halloween-like fancy Halloween.

Unfortunately, I'm not a fancy Halloween person.  I must have orange and black and pumpkins and witches.  I didn't get any paper (also I found a new stack of Halloween paper in a Christmas order I had placed and gotten.  So glad I didn't buy any paper!) But this thought of fancy Halloween haunted me.  Why can't I do a fancy Halloween card?  What constitutes fancy?

So I used Rangers Sticky Embossing Powder with Sparkle N Sprinkle's Golden Silver glitter and created this:

It's a fancy meets grunge--LOL.  I love the brightness of this glitter-all of my other glitter and embossing powder is dark gold.  It seems like bright happy gold is everywhere.  For the background I used a Tim Holtz stencil and Viva Inka Gold (which looks better on black than I would have ever imagined.)  The witches and sentiment are both from Great Impressions stamps.

For the lace I used antique linen and tarnished brass distress stains and some black distress ink.

I am entering this Fancy grunge card into the following challenges:

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...stay shiny :)

Live in Color Layout

Hello Everybody!

There is a new challenge at Stick It Down--and you will love this sketch!

Here is my take on the sketch.  I used Distress Paints and flicked them onto the white cardstock.  I used my Silhouette machine to make the crayons.  I thought they were perfect for the Crayola Experience.

Here is the journaling.  The title stickers are old-so I was super happy to incorporate them into this layout.  Does anyone else feeling like a major win when you use something that's like 5 plus years old?  LOL! :)

Here is the original sketch:
Make sure you go by and see all of the great takes on this sketch and the double page and card sketches-so much inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...stay colorful! :)

A Stitch in Time

Hello Everybody!

What do I say every month--wow! It's already another month!  And now we are going into fall-ok it might be a little early, but I am started to get excited about pumpkins and various shades of brown, red, and orange.  :)

However, the card I'm showing you today has nothing to do with fall but everything to do with our new challenge at House of Cards-Stitching!

I love this card that I made:

For the challenge you can use faux stitching (pen, stickers, etc) or real stitching with a machine or done by hand.

So my process is funny because I get out this little sewing machine by provo craft and because it has one unpredictable stitch and I'm missing a piece-I totally abandon that idea.  Then I get out my 2 sheets of faux stitches.  And then 3 is a charm you know--I get out my We R Memory Keepers sewing tool thing.

I pierced the paper with 3 different types of stitches and then sewed them up.  I used 2 Stampin' Up stamps that a friend of mine gave me (Thank you!).  I used Copics to color the frog and glued sequins that matched the thread.

I don't use my We R Memory Keepers sewing thing enough.  But thanks to this challenge I did :)

Please check out what my teammates have created.  They are super talented!

We can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time my friends...you are sew special! :)

Stick It Down Layout

Hello Everybody!

Have you ever been so busy that you feel like you are kinda foggy?  And then you realize that you skipped something from 3 weeks ago?  LOL!  Then you know what it's like to be me!

I have been busy getting the most out of summer, prepping my classroom, and getting ready for my son to go back to school that some how I totally missed posting this layout for Stick It Down.

It's an awesome sketch and there are still a couple of days to play!

Here is my layout.  I used Candi paper brads for the background.  This is the first time I have ever used so many-and I was so happy!  The letters are from Thickers and a gift from my mom-in-law. :)

Here is the sketch:

So please design a layout and link it up.  What better way to spend the weekend!

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...I'll be on time next month! ;)

Time for Metallics!

Hello Everybody!

The new challenge has posted at House of Cards, and I hope you join us as we use Metallics in our cards this month.

When I first saw this as the challenge I was super excited.  What was I going to make?  There's Mynn's video and all of the fun metal things I could add to a card....And then I was overwhelmed--LOL-There are so many things I could do!

So I [finally!] settle on a metallic background called Eroded Metal from Tim Hotlz (his Chemistry 102 class and his 3rd Compendium of Curiosities book).

I learned this eroded metal technique in Tim Holtz's Chemistry 102 class but I found a video of him demonstrating this at a show.  You can see it here.

Here is how my background looked before I added anything:

I love the patina feel and the copper.  Very cool!

After layering some black inks, stamps, and the sentiment, I too this picture so that you can see that the metallic shiny is still there:

The happy birthday are Tim's Sizzix thinlets, the gears is a stencil from Clear Scraps, and the number stamps at the bottom are from 7 Gypsies.  I used Tim's Distress Paints for the technique.

Thank you for stopping by today!  There is more beautiful inspiration from our DT so be sure to see their projects.  And we can't wait to see what you make!

I would also like to link this up to Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes.

Until next time my friends...stay golden ;)
