Christmas in July

Hello Everybody!

It's time for another fun challenge at Clearly iStamp.  This time it's Christmas in July! Here are the challenge details:

Challenge starts today and goes through Aug 1 at 11pm Central Time.
Theme: Christmas projects
Prize: $10 gift certificate to Clearly iStamp for digi stamps.  If you use a CDS stamp your name gets entered twice for the drawing.  There is also a Top 3!

I was so happy to work with this sweet little angel.    For the angel's dress I made it 3-D.

I printed the angel 5 times.  If you use Photoshop you can duplicate the layer and the size (everything) stays the same.  Then I cut out 4 of the dresses.  Now I did this backwards.  I colored her dress after I assembled it.  I couldn't commit to a color palette.  :)

Ok so since the dress is pretty symmetrical, I fold it in half.  Then I cut and folded another dress in half.  Then I glued them together using a glue stick.  Then I did it for the other 2 dresses.  Then I had to commit to a color palette because I had to color it before I adhered it to the main base angel.

For her halo I put some gold paint on my craft mat and used a toothpick to paint the color in.  I used a brushable glue and glitter on her wings.  For her dress I used the same gold paint from the halo and mixed it with a pearl paint.  Then I added gloss gel medium to thin it out.  If it is too opaque it covers up the hearts and lines from the digi stamp.  If there was a little too much white from where the dress pieces didn't match up right I colored them in with a black marker.  Just be sure it doesn't leak through to another panel.

I colored the rest with Copics.  The materials I used are at the bottom of this post.  I used the same paint mixture from the dress to frame the sentiment.  Then I used scattered straw distress ink for the inside.  I inked the edges with a gold pen.

Sweet Lil' Lady Bug

Hello Everybody!

Tonight I had fun coloring this cute little lady bug for a couple of challenges.  It's a Bugaboo image that I got from one of their Free Fridays.  

The pattern paper is from Doodlebugs and then I used some cardstock and ribbon that I had.  The sentiment is a sticker from Stickabilities (Hobby Lobby).  Here's a closeup of the coloring.

Some Exciting News!

Hello Friends!

I hope all is well out in Blogland!  I have exciting news!  I am on the first DT team for Clearly iStamp!  I was honored to be a Guest DT for 2 challenges and now I am on the DT!  Yay!  So stop by and see-this month's challenge is which is Summer Time.  :)

A Quilled Butterfly

Hello Everybody!

I was in the mood to quill-so I made a butterfly.  But I used the challenge at Inkspirational #27 to dictate the colors.

So here's my card:

I also used a hexagon embossing folder from Darice and a Spellbinder's Die for the butterfly.  I enjoyed quilling the butterfly.  I haven't quilled in a while.  My husband laughs because I quilled flowers for our wedding invitations and I didn't quill anything for a long long time after that.  LOL. So this was a fun card to make. :)

Summertime Fun

Hello Everybody!

I am super excited to be a Guest DT for Clearly iStamp again.  The challenge this time is to do projects pertaining to Summer Time.  I made my card using digi stamps from the Happy Trails Camper Collection.

I added the oars to the canoe.  The tree paper is a digi paper that is included.  (LOVE IT, plus it comes with 3 more!)  For the sentiment I used scattered straw and rusty hinge distress ink and used jute on the outlined it with jute.  I used blue jeans around the canoe.  And the sentiment itself-just makes me happy!  There are other great sentiments in this collection, too.

Aquarium Fun-A Scrapbook Page

Hello Everybody!

Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show they are having an Anything Goes. So I am trying to work on scrapbook pages, and I thought I would make one with a little mixed medium on it.

I used 3 different hues of blue gelatos and mixed them with light modeling paste-which is one of my favorite things right now.  If you want to get something like this and your not sure which one (because it can be overwhelming to go to that part of the craft store-for me anyways!) get this stuff first.  Martha Stewart has some stuff-just wait on that.  Fiber paste is fun but if you have to get just one thing to start with-my suggestion is this stuff.  You can mix it with gelatos to make different colors and when it dries-well it's cool and raised.

So the bubbles on the left are made with the paste and gelatos.  The circle on the right are made with a stencil from The Crafters Workshop and Salty Ocean Distress Paint.  The bottom of the page is sprayed with blue Dylusions ink.

I used some cool ocean die cuts from K&Company.  I am like addicted to buying their die cuts. I love them!

I had to hang my page up with clothes pins to get a better picture of it.  Because of the spray mist at the bottom it wouldn't stand up-LOL.  So please look past them at the top.  :)

Here is (hopefully) a closer look at the paste (which I used a dylusion stencil for these).  Also, a closer look at the journaling which is a circle from Bella Blvd.  It sorta looks like a bubble too.  The remember and camera on the kraft panel are stamps from Simple Stories.

Blurred Vision Watercoloring

The challenge this month at Technique Time Tuesday is so fun and super easy!  Go check out the video here.  There's also a fabulous prize to the top winner-so come on and play!

Here is my card:

I used the technique on Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower.  Everything I used is Tim Holtz except the script in the background and the cardstock I used for the circle in the front and inside.  

Normally, I just do a standard A2 card.  But I made the pocket watch out of grungepaper, used bronze and silver distress stain and added my buildings and chit chat stickers.  Here's the truth of the matter.  I made Big Ben first using rusty hinge distress ink.  It came out so good.  I was just playing but it was just so awesome!  So then I blurred the Eiffel tower.  And the rest...they say is history.

Here's a close up.  I used glossy accents to cover the inside of it to be like glass.

Here is the inside.  After I made the first part of the pocket watch my husband said you should make that into a card.  I frowned at putting it on an A2 base.  That just didn't seem right.  So I got out some more grunge paper, die cutted a pocket watch.  I used silver distress stain to cover the backside of the first pocket watch.  Then I used bronze and silver for the second half.  I cut out a circle and used distress ink.  Then I adhered the left part so that it would open up and be a card.  Thank you hubby! :)
