Bird's the Word

Hello Everybody!

There's a new challenge at For Fun Challenges!  National Bird Day was Saturday-so in honor of that we must use a bird on our projects.  If you have more than one bird that is ok too! ;)  You can use eagles, flamingos, song birds, parrots, and I could go on!  I chose this little bird from the Girl's Paperie for my card.  The sentiment is from Mynnette Kitchen-I won it!  Yay! :)  Scroll on down, and I will share some more details!

Our Creative Corners: Color Challenge-Aqua and Pink Plus a Flower

The flowers and pearls are from Recollections.  There is a doily behind the pink circle (Core'dination Paper, Spellbinders circle) and a strip of tissue tape from Tim Holtz. 

Oh!  And the sentiment is a digi stamp so I printed it on glossy paper (along with some photos I was printing) and then I used Aqua Alcohol Ink around the edge of it.

Tidbit Tuesday-Christmas Cards

Hello Everybody,

So it is time again to take the Christmas cards down that people sent to me.  In my heart I want to scrap the ones with the kids on them and save the printed ones for other projects-to give them new life.

However, they must get put away.  Until last year I used to just put them in a memory box (ticket stubs, programs, etc).  Then I realized I could put them into a Ziploc bag and date the bag.  So here is this years Bag O' Christmas Cards all neat and tidy.  And now it can go into the memory box!

Do you save your Christmas cards?  And the better question is-do you use them or scrap them?

Plastic Bag Ribbon

Hello Everybody!

There is a challenge going on for another day or so at Cut It Up challenge.  It's challenge #9 Out with the old.  The challenge is to make a project using something from the house that you would not normally use in papercrafting.  Is that a recycle challenge?  Count me in!

Now at Cut it Up you do have to-it's a must-use one thing-everybody has to use a die cut.  Which is a good thing because this means I get to use my Cricut.  So enough chit chat...here's my card:

The Earth is from the Travel cartridge from Cricut.  The ribbon is made from this plastic bag, an item not usually used in papercrafts.  I have been saving it because it's pink.  So I cut two strips and tied them together with a knot.  I wrapped it around the card and the two free ends made the bow.

Here is the inside of the card.  I used letters from a magazine for the sentiment.  Thank you so much for stopping by...until next time my friends...what are you going to use on your card?

Dark Pink, Black, and Kiwi

Hello Everybody!

There's a new challenge blog in town!  It's called Inkspirational and this week's challenge is a color challenge using dark pink, black, and kiwi green.  You can get all of the details for the first challenge here.

But in order to make my card work, I went over to see this weeks sketch at Retro Sketches: #44:

So with colors and form I present to you my card.  :)

I think the paper is My Mind's Eye.  Except for the black card stock.  It's Recollections and it's embossed with polka dots.  The flower is from Making Memories.  The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday-Ali Edwards.  I got it for Christmas and this is my first time using it.  I have a wish list at Simon Says Stamp and my sister got this stamp from Simon Says using my wish list plus a few other goodies.  :)  Thanks Georgia! :)

1st Tag of the Year!

Hello Everybody!

I am super excited to show you this tag I made for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013.  You can go here to see the original inspiration and how to make the tag.

So here's my version of the tag.  I kept to the original Tim tag except for a few things.  I don't have the film strip that he used so I stamped the film strip (from one of his stamp sets) onto a transparency and cut it out.  I am so going to do that again.  That was the first time I used that stamp-LOL!  My hand stamp is from Prima-I just got!  I used a different saying (Still T.H. stamp).  Oh and I used a different embossing folder for the background.

Here's a close up.  I made my gears differently too.  I put Martha Stewart white texture effect on them and then I painted it with gold dauber and silver and copper stain.  I also used a little black paint so they wouldn't be quite so bright and shiny ;)

I used a Making Memories clip since that is all I had.  But orange sherbert doesn't go with my tag so...

I got out the gold and silver alcohol inks...Ah yeah!

I also don't have the ribbon that Tim used.  But I have white seam binding like from the sewing section. A friend of mine gifted me a lot of binding and ric rac so I am super happy that this worked.  I stamped it with a stamp from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  The first set of music notes fit perfectly!  I heat set it and then I added sage and marmalade stain.  Scroll back up to the top and see it again-it's beautiful!  I think so anyways, and I am very happy at how this tag turned out.

For Fun-Something New!

Hello Everybody!

It's time for a new challenge at For Fun Challenges!  Since it's a New Year this week's theme is something new-like a new baby, new house, new scrapbook supplies!  I got a lot of fun goodies for Christmas, and I can't wait to use them all!

So the telephone stamp (Recollections), the sentiment (Technique Tuesday stamp) and the technique used on the flowers are all new.

Here is a close up of my flowers.  They are those little fabric flowers that people seem to buy for wedding things.  My husband bought me a melting pot for Christmas.  I used the Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE) and dipped the flowers in it.  I saw Tim Holtz do it on one of his videos and thought it was one of the coolest things ever.  I still do-LOL!  Not bad for my 1st 3 flowers.  There will be more!

Happy 2013-Tidbit Tuesday

Hello Everybody!

Happy New Year!  

Have you reflected on 2012?  Have you made your New Year resolutions?  I haven't really looked back on 2012.  I haven't had time!  LOL!  But I have been thinking about resolutions for the new year.

Goal for 2012-100 scrapbook pages Actual-68 pages!  That's AWESOME!  I didn't make my goal but I scrapped more scrapbook pages than I ever have in a year!  So for 2013 I am setting the same goal 100 pages.

I made about 201 cards without really having any goals in mind so that's pretty cool too.  So what to do for 2013?  Here it goes!
