Red, Red, Red

Hello Everybody!

I made a card for a challenge that ends in a few hours over at The Game-Challenge #16.  I don't like cutting it so close, yet that is how it goes!  The challenge at The Game is to create something for winter showcasing the color red.

**This card made runner up at the Game :)

Over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge-Anything Goes!  They are offering a $50 gift certificate to their store (which is awesome!  Some of my Christmas came from there, but I'll show you that later!)

I am also going to link this up to Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge #52 Anything Goes!  There's still time to play so come on over!  They are giving away a stamp set from Cardz TV (with USA address).  Thanks Michelle for letting me know! :)

Here's my card!  Red cardstock (Wassau), and then the punched border was a gift from my husband for Christmas.  Side note-he is so awesome-he combs the isles for craft stores looking for cool stuff for little o' me!  You rock!

Ok back on track-the square is new too!  It's Spellbinders one of my newest addictions.  The sentiment is from a new stamp set my mom-in-law bought me for Christmas.  It's from Inkadinkado.

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...I may be back with a second post.  If so see ya soon! :)

4 Squares

Hello Friends!

Happy World Card Making Day!  Such a fun and happy day!  I'm gonna start it off my showing you a card I made for The Game-Challenge #10 Four Squares.  I hadn't played this until my husband and I were at the park with our son.  It's lot's of fun.

I cut a piece of black card stock 4.5 inches wide by 9 inches long and folded it in half.  The smaller squares are 2X2 inches.  I made them from dictionary paper that I had sprayed Dylusions ink on.  I love this ink!  So bright and happy!  I used squeezed orange and a little bit of fresh lime for some contrast.  Around the edges of the squares I put on some orange Smooch.

The stamps are from Stampin' Up 2001.  I am still using still using these little guys!  And I used black embossing powder on them.

Here's the inside-a smaller white square for writing and a trick or treat ribbon across the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...let's make some cards! :)

Tidbit Tuesday-Go Round

Hello Everybody!

Today's Tidbit Tuesday is about going outside the square box--into a circle one!

I made this wreath for football season.  We like to have a decoration on our front door and didn't have anything going from 4th of July to Halloween.  Feast your eyes...

So as I was getting the photos ready for this post, I realized that it fits the challenge over at The Game: Round.  Yippee!  I'm excited.  There's still plenty of time, so when you're done here go check out the challenge.  :)

I am also linking this to the Anything Goes Challenge at Unique Crafters Challenge.  There is still plenty of time to play at this challenge too! :)

So here are some of the details on my wreath.

This is a smooth wreath that I bought from Michael's.  I covered it in Gesso and then painted it with a glossy black acrylic paint.

I used my Making Memories Slice Machine to make the letters.  Then I ran each letter through my Xron machine (the 5 inch one) using the laminate/permanent adhesive cartridge.  I put toothpicks on the bottoms of the letters and used Scotch tape to make sure the stayed on the letters.  Then I pushed them through the styrofoam wreath.

The football is from Party City.  I used 2 strands of embroidery floss to go through the football to attach it to the wreath.  Also, I used embroidery floss to hang the wreath.

Here's another close up.  I don't make a lot of wreaths so I am pretty excited about this one.  My husband likes it too!

Until next time my friends...get out the chips and dip-It's football season!

Red Light--Stop! Green Light--GO!

Hello Everybody!

**I have revised this post.  Please scroll down to see my corrected entry!  :)  Thanks!

Today I made something I haven't made before--ATC's or Artist Trading Cards.  A month or so ago I found a new challenge blog called The Game.  It's really cool how they incorporate different games into their challenges.  Sometimes the project is also specific such as this one.

The game going on today is Red Light, Green Light.  You can go here to check it out.  I remember playing this at the roller rink.  So much fun!  :)  It's not as much fun in the car-LOL!

ARTchix Studio is the sponsor, and they have a great package they are giving away.

So the challenge is to use the colors red, amber yellow, and green in ATC's.  I made 3 ATC's and decided to honor each color separately.  **However for the challenge all three colors need to be on the ATC so I have added my card with all 3 colors (thank you Susan!).  All together I have made 4 cards to make a little set.

Here is my entry for the game:

Here is a closeup.  It's really the finishing card to the set.  In my mind if you stop, slow down, and then go (red, yellow, green) and you do that in balance you will achieve harmony.  Maybe, right?  ;)  The butterfly is from Recollections (at Michaels).

Here is the (now) complete set of ATC's.  Scroll down, and I'll show you some highlights!

Here are my cards just starting out.

I put index paper from a text book on my cards.  The I used white Washi Tape from Recollections around the edges to make them a bit neater.  I used clear embossing powder and a swirly stamp from Autumn Leaves on each card.

Since the index paper is glossy, I applied gesso to the paper so whatever color medium I used would stick to the card.

For the red card I used Fired Brick Distress Ink. I also used ChitChat letter stickers from Tim Holtz.  Red means to stop-so the words are this card are reflective of the past.

I used Mustard Seed yellow Distress Ink and then went over it with Walnut Distress Ink to give it more of an amber color.  Since yellow means to slow down, those are the words I use to reflect slowing down and reflecting (I know I used it twice).

The green is from a green Smooch spray since I didn't have a Distress Ink with a strong enough green color.  Green means go so the words here are about now and the future.

Here are all of my cards again.  I really like the way they turned out.  Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...slow down and enjoy the scenery!--And carefully read the instructions!  ;)
