Halloween Party Pumpkin Terrarium

 Hello Friends!

October is just the best month! The weather is nicer and leaves are turning. Pumpkins and Halloween decorations are everywhere!

Today I am happy to show you my pumpkin terrarium-where there is an awesome Halloween Party going on!  I am linking this to Simon Says Stamp challenge and that info is at the bottom of this post.

Here it is :)  I bought the pumpkin terrarium from Oriental Trading.  And I will be honest-I was scared at first LOL. I was afraid of having this cool pumpkin but not decorating it cool enough-silly I know. I got over myself LOL and once I started applying paint to the outside-it started to come together.

I love Tim Holtz. And I compartmentalized made the costume party dies one night. I made three of each since I had the papers out and I know there is another project I want to do with the trio. This little dracula has a silver glitter outfit on because he's at this party :)  The skull and pumpkin in the middle are ideology and the gold witch hat is a charm from Prima I got last year.

I used purple reindeer moss and this brown moss to fill in the floor. There are a few of Tim rub-on's on the walls of the pumpkin.  Now let's talk about tomb stones--I cut these from the sizzix halloween vault series 2021 out of black cardstock. I used the grave texture paste from last year. Then I painted on empty tomb distress crayon (like wow it looked good) and then some peeled paint over some of the textured places. I got that idea from watching one of Tami Bastiaans you tube videos.

I used a couple of paper dolls and I sometimes like to assign stories to things LOL. So the guy in the back with the face mask and bat wings isn't really supposed to be there. Hmmm....an imposter?

Tiny lights for the win! I drilled a little hole so the battery pack is on the back and then I hot glued the lights to the ceiling for the pumpkin. Also in the top right corner there is a ghost bottom.  Also, I hot glued sewing thread and strung one of this year's ideology spiders.  I used a little lettuce alcohol ink on it's abdomen like Zoe from Tim's design team did (except she used pearls and I don't have those [yet])  :)

Here is the top of the ghost. :) He's hiding behind the leaves. These big metallic leaves are sort of bendable. I bought those a few years ago from a thrift store, and I'm so happy to finally use them!  Also I used some leaves you can get from either the dollar store or hobby store. And the sunflower is from dollar tree.

This witch is from Tim's Toil and Trouble sizzix die cut set. I cut a second hat from orange glitter paper because---party!

And lastly an entomology adornment-I used cracked pistachio on him and now he is this cool green color.  I painted the outside of the pumpkin first with black paint that I blotted as I went. I didn't want all of the orange to go away. And then I painted finnabair's sparks unicorn hair paint over it-and wow. I love it. :)

So I totally forgot to take a before picture. I know-I was like what? So here is the before and the link to this is here at Oriental Trading

So just a few notes-I used hot glue to glue everyone down. I held them up until the glue dried which seemed longer then normal. The pumpkin is sort of a foam material so that might be why. I didn't glue down the moss. I didn't think it needed it. I also used die cut elements from Frightful Things (ghosts and jack o lanter).

I am linking this up to the challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge-Fall Mood Board.

Pumpkins and the lights are totally inspiring from the mood board and used in my project. All of a sudden I want some hot chocolate. :)

Here is a video of my project. :)

Thank you for reading to the end. Have a great day friends! :)

Friendship Altered Tin

 Hello Friends!

I am so excited to share with you my project for being the Guest Designer this week at The Funkie Junkie Challenge! This week it's about Friendship.  Be sure to check out the Design Team's project and maybe submit one of your own! :)

A first I didn't know what I was going to make. I am in Halloween mode-LOL. And I didn't know who I would make something for-my husband and sister get many things as it is. :)  And I love all of my friends-but it hit me-I would make something for my friend that lives down the street. She makes life easier and definitely more fun.

I started off with an altoids tin. And I altered it using mostly Tim Holtz products and a little Finnabair.  Funny side note--I don't eat altoids. A different friend of mine a long time ago gave me tins, and this is from her collection.

Here is the front:

And when you open it...

So if you would like to see how I created this stay with me. If not-I understand that too :)

I gessoed the tin with black gesso around the outside.  I put light modeling paste on the lid and let that dry. Then I used Tim's matte texture paste and a Tim stencil to create the stars. I used distress stains-mustard seed and carved pumpkin. I also took a little prize ribbon and used the spray tube to add drops of color. Then I spritzed with a little water and let that dry.

I sprayed some more stain on a piece of cardstock and added a little elixir mica spray. Then I used a garden green sizzix die to cut some leaves. I didn't use the leaves like how they are cut in the die. I cut the leaves in their little sections and created a bunch behind the flair piece.

To make the friend word card more fun I used this stars die cut which was the special die last year from Simon Says Stamp.  Then I used gathered twigs distress ink around the card.

For the inside I used liquitex gesso and a piece of paper from Tim's backdrop volume 1 papers.

I added walnut stain with a small brush to get into the corners.

Then I painted the inside left and the frame part of the right this beautiful finnabair sparks paint-unicorn hair. so magical :)

I just have to share that I love these thimbles as pots for the flowers. I used them before and glazed them with Tim's embossing glaze but the few colors of glaze didn't match what I was going for here. So I got out the Finnabair wax rusty brown and here's the difference.

I sprayed my flowers-I think with tumbled glass and snowflurries mica for the blue, raspberry and hocus pocus mica for the pinkish, and flickering candle mica for the yellow. I did think that the flowers would stay nicely in this thimble pot. But they don't--LOL and I had to go back and glue them down with hot glue.

For the paper doll ladies I cut some craft foam and adhered it using glossy accents so they would have a little dimension.  And I added craft moss-I used the q-tip to put the glossy accents on the bottom of the tin. Also, I glued the thimble in first so I had small spaces on both sides to put the glue so the q-tip was awesome. And then I used craft tweezers to add in the moss.

Here is the left inside. The stars are last years ideology christmas stars--I didn't know they had stars so small. It was a great surprise (and it was a brand new pack which means I guess I haven't needed any stars in like 11 months.)

The moon is made from paper clay I bought and a Finnabair mould. Those nice words are from the everyday clipping stickers and some more little stars.

My friends-here is the back. I took a piece of cardstock and added distress ink--crushed olive, scattered straw, oxide antique linen. Then I stamped the lines using a super old stampin up journaling stamp (2002 lol) and distress ink gathered twigs.  Later I will tell my friend how great she is :)

Thank you for making it to the end.  I appreciate your vising. :)

Birthday Card

 Hello Friends!

Over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge the challenge is do use dies. Yes please!

So I created this card out of Tim Holtz dies (like they are all his for real). And Tim's foil cardstock because it's my favorite. The background is a spray stains, oxides, and mica stains and then I embossed it with a folder from Sizzix. I put some finnabair wax amethyst magic on the raised parts.  I also added some sequins because flowers seemed to big but that corner needed a little something. :)

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Happy Halloween Card

 Hello Friends!

I was inspired by two challenges to make this card. The first is The Funkie Junkie Challenge: Stamped with Love using Tim Holtz stamps. The second is make your own background by Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Here's my card:

Here's a close up of most of the detail.

The background is CMS414 Tapestry-I used villianous potion embossing glaze and distress ink.

The skeleton is from CMS437 Halloween Doodles.

CMS237 Crazy Things-Balloons (which I masked to get them together), hat, bow tie (colored with villianous potion embossing glaze), and pumpkin trick or treat container. I used copics and prismacolor markers for these things.

CMS236 Crazy Talk is the sentiment (and my favorite sentiment stamp of all time.)

Some twine and pop dots were used for the balloons.

I am probably going to make this background again. There is something about the shine of the glaze that is just so pretty. :)

Thank you for stopping by! :)

Bad Mood Mixed Media Page

 Hello Friends!

Do you have a long list of things you should be making-birthday cards, halloween things, maybe some tags? Me too! But I couldn't focus on that. I just wanted to play-so I created this page in my little art journal book. It's 4x6 so it's enough "real estate" :)

When I chose this page the purple and and pink ink were already on there. I think I was using up something LOL.  The lady I printed off from my silhouette software and bought from the Silhouette design store-clickchic is the designer. She is just printed on regular copy paper. I used a paint brush and water to tear the paper around her. I adhered her with tim holtz collage medium and added more on top.

And then I played! I used mica hocus pocus and winterberry distress crayons for the feathers. For the edge of her hat I used hickory smoked crayon and antique linen crayon for her skin. I used a little left over hocus pocus for her dress.

Then I used distress ink villianous potion and my simon says stamp heart stencil and added hearts. I used a script tim holtz stamp and faded jeans distress ink and added some stamping. And the sentiment is where the bad mood comes from LOL.

Here's a close up. I think I can relate ;) LOL.

This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Mixed Media--I am submitting this art journal page.

2 Mixed Media Cards

 Hello Friends,

I made a couple of mixed media cards. I was inspired by the challenge at The Funky Junky Boutique: Chillin' in the Heat. So the challenge is to either to use hot colors like reds and oranges or cool colors like blues and greens. And because I am literal and cannot make a decision-I made a card for both cool and hot. :)

So for Christmas I received these Ranger tools that make textures in paste. For the hot card I spread Distress Texture Paste matte on to a piece of Stampin Up paper. You can see the design below.  And then I used this took to make those specific grooves.

This is the cool card.

Here are the sprays I used for the hot card.  I used a spell binders die for the sentiment and some little white gems.

Normally, I don't think I would put the gems like how I did. But here is why--LOL so I must have put the paste on too thick because the paper bent and you can see cracks in some places. I know it's not mixed media paper so maybe a duh moment-however I have a lot of pattern paper, and I can either donate it or use it. Right now I'm trying to use it, and I like how it looks on this card.

So I sprayed the card and when dry the paper was bowed. So I put a box on it and these mysterious green dots appeared.  So I covered them but they were perfectly lined so I had to add a few more ;)

Here are the colors I used for the cool card. I used a Tim Holtz sizzix die cut and star.

USA Scrapbook Layout

 Hello Friends!

I love the 1 page sketch over at Stick It Down this month. I really love stars right now-so here's my layout:

I used a stencil from Paige Evans and I used candied apple and blueprint sketch oxide first through the stencil and then I put stickles on top of it. I used a border punch from stampin up and used some scraps for the bottom. And I love the heart washi tape and thought why not? Stars and hearts it is :)

I cut these letters on my silhouette cameo. I tried with just the stickles but I didn't like it so I applied the oxides and then went over it with the stickles.

Here's a close up of the title and some of the stars.

Happy Birthday Cow Card

 Hello Friends!

I made a birthday card for my friend who loves cows.

I used silver cardstock for the base. On watercolor paper I sprayed the following Tim Holtz sprays: stain wilted violet, chipped sapphire, blueprint sketch, mica snowflurries, and Dylusions crushed grape mica spray.  Then I embossed it with a star embossing folder from cuttlebug (called star blanket).  I applied Finnabair old silver was with my finger on the stars to help them pop.

The cow is from Silhouette and I cut it out on my cameo.  So is the hat. I used stickles and a pom pom to make the hat a little jazzy.

The grass is a Lawn Fawn grass die. I used the following sprays for the grass from Tim: shabby shutters oxide, mowed lawn stain, rustic wilderness stain, and mica tree lot.

Here is a side view to hopefully pick up some of the shine of the mica and wax. This card was super fun to make :)

I am linking this to the Simon Says Monday Challenge: Happy Birthday.  Simon Says Stamp Challenge is 12 years old--Happy Birthday! :)

Happy First Day of School Card

 Hello Friends!

The challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Back to School. So when I was looking at my Tim Holtz dies the smaller house in ghost town 2 jumped out at me. Crazy right? But I was able to turn this little haunted house into a respectable place of education :)

I cut the house twice-red and black cardstock and then cut the roof to fit over the red house. I swiped chrome yellow archival ink from Ranger on white cardstock and fit it to the back of the house. The background paper and world is from a Prima paper collection called Engraver. I added two smaller paper dolls and she is sitting on a box of blank index tabs (from snippets tim holtz). I used vintage photo oxide ink and black soot distress ink in various places.

Here's the haunted house versus the school house.

Here is how I made the sentiment and why the letters aren't perfect. I didn't have word stamps for happy first day. So I made my own words using this little stamp set from my husband awhile back :)

Thank you for stopping by! :)

Summertime Layout

 Hello Friends!

Tonight I made a scrapbook layout which is the first one I have made in a while.  I have been wanting to do a rainbow with distress stains and this worked out perfect for me to try it.

I used a stencil from Dina Wakely and distress inks: candied apple, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, mowed lawn, blueprint sketch, shaded lilac, and wilted violet. The butterfly and summertime stickers and colorful paper behind the photo are from Echo Park. The flamingo is puffy and I think from Amy Tangerine. The pineapple is from the paper studio (hobby lobby).

I was inspired by Challenge YOUself #103 to scrap a picture of my family. :)

I was also inspired by the single page sketch at Stick It Down. The stencil part is the slant toward the bottom of the page. I used Tim's texture paste with the Dina stencil. And then I used the sprays.

Thank you for stopping by :)

Mini Journal

 Hello Everybody!

I made this little journal for the Moving Parts Challenge at TFJB Challenge Blog.  When I saw moving parts of thought the page has to move to see the next page. I made it mini because I have lots of little paper dolls and snippets from Tim Holtz and this is a great way to use them. :)

The base of the pages are from Silhouette in the Design Studio (Silhouette brand 295181).  It originally had a match book style to it but because I embellish a little extra I just had to make it without a wrap around paper piece.

Here's the front:

This journal measures length almost 2.75 inches and 3 inches wide. I used brads to bind it together. The front is a Tim Holtz snippet, clay frame with mica powder and finnabair gold vintage wax and the back ground paper is a from Tim also.

When I put the clay in the mold-I dusted it with the mica powder first so it looks coppery. Then on the right side you can see the difference the wax makes.

The first 2 pages. Snippets, heart punch, gears from sizzix gearhead and Tim's metallic paper, Tim Rub-on and both have paper dolls.

I made this background with a script stamp from Tim and distress oxides and inks and water.

Here is a close up of this page.

Here is the next two pages:

Both of these used Tim's abandoned papers for backgrounds.

Tim's paper dolls, rub-ons and a piece of lace and flower found in my stash.

This is a cool Tim stamp but I felt it got lost in the background. The picture makes it look better than it really is LOL. So I added some things:

A Tim Holtz bird and a sizzix Tim green -So the stamp is part of the cool background now.

Here's the next to pages-Moving right along....(see what I did there?)

Both of these background pages are from Abandoned.

This butterfly is a transparency that I added glitter glue and then white paint. There are some sparkles there I promise :) And an old dream ticket because I still have those :) And Snippets. Oh and a clipping sticker.

Snippet, washi tape, a sticker from 7 gypsies and the heart I think came from The Funky and Frilly Boutique in one of those cute envelopes. (and if not then it was in my stash LOL)

Here is the next set:

This was a tan paper that I used rustic wilderness distress oxide on. I cut out the sizzix mixed media piece and colored the smaller kid's outfit with prism markers. More clippings stickers.

I used kitsch flamingo embossing powder on this cool lady. A clippings sticker. The background is pattern paper I had floating around and I don't know the brand. If it's not Tim's I would say 7 gypsies.

This is the last set.

This background paper was also sort of beige and I used speckled egg oxide. More snippets and a paper doll and a gear to help tie in from the 2nd page.

And this is the inside of the back cover. I used gathered twigs distress ink and a little black soot over the raised edges. The embossing folder is an old Tim one from Halloween (I think).  I loved this clippings sticker as a sort of the end. :)

So above is the debossed side. And below is the embossed side. I used walnut stain, villianous potion and prized ribbon and water. I think the stain was ink the other two were oxides. Also, I bent the brads because they were long which was good to go through the book but then they hung over. Thankfully, the "arms" were easy enough to bend.  And I used vintage gold wax from finnabair over the raised edges.

Thank you so much for stopping by and then moving again ;) (lol I laugh at my jokes even if no one else does) lolol :)
