Candle Shaker Card

Hello Everybody!

So for this card I was inspired by the Shaker Challenge happening now at CAS-ual Fridays.  I have been wanting to make one and I bought a whole bunch of stuff to make one from the Scrapbook Expo a few months ago.  And now-finally some inspiration.  :)

It's also my sister's birthday.  (ok a little past but who's really keeping count?  ok maybe she is!) ;)  And I just found out that her favorite color is red.  So between the challenge of shaker cards and the favorite color red, this is what happened:

So fun, right?!  So I used the silhouette for the flame (from a different candle cut) and made the frame for the shaker part of the candle.  Now the foam is from Queen and Company.  Just the foam.  I didn't buy the die cuts.  I figured it out on the silhouette.  It took about 4 tries, but I finally got it.  I had to get into those 8th measurements (blarg) but I did it.  LOL!  And the cute sequins on the inside--Also Queen and Company.

At the Expo I had to decide-cute sequins or die cuts....totally the cute sequins!  Their pearls and a few of Q&CO diamonds are in there too.  The sentiment is an old fabric sticker.  The background paper is from TPC studio.

I glued a couple of the sequins on the background to make it seem a little fuller.

Think Rustic

Hello Everybody!

Happy Friday!  I am so excited to show ya'l this card I made.  It was inspired by the Rustic theme happening at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge right now.  I created a mood board too.  Which was pretty cool-I haven't ever put one together before.

How much fun is this!?  There was so much inspiration from the design team and then from my own board, I hardly knew how to start.  And I have this thing for rust-I think it's awesome.  LOL I know it's destructive, but look at it on those metal letters.

So here is my card:

It's for a friend of mine who's birthday has passed (like a month ago--I know I know.)  So hopefully she will forgive my tardiness.  :)

The paper is from a wood looking paper from Simple Stories.  I inked walnut stain distress ink over the paper to make it less bright.  Then I stamped a Tim Holtz plant stamp from the Spring Sprung collection.  Then I put Versamark around the edges and heat embossed Tea Dye Distress powder.  I rubbed it after it cooled down to get the filler flakes off.

I diluted some black paint and made the flecks in the background.  For the flowers I used rusty hinge and walnut ink for the flowers and the 16 bingo chip.  The 16 is for the year.  Not my friends age-but if she want to tell people that... ;)  I'll never tell.

I found a bee button and cut of the shank, and then painted or rubbed more like it brown paint to distress it.  The bee was a bright yellow.  I stamped the happy birthday with a Great Impressions stamp on yellow vellum.  Lastly I added Queens and Co. chocolate delight pearls.

I am entering this rustic card into the following challenges:

Nothing's Better Than Being Together

When We're Singin'!

Hello Everybody!

Maybe that sounds familiar...maybe not (lol).  It from the Partridge Family opening theme song.  You can check it out here.  And this is what my card is inspired from.

I used the Tim Holtz bird mover and shaker and cut from solid cardstock.  The stamp is Stampin Up and I used a multicolor stamp pad from Color Box.

I am submitting this to the following challenges:

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...Keep singin! :)

Hooray for a Hot Air Balloon

Hello Everybody!

I made a card using a stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey.  I used Tangerine Tango for the orange from Stampin Up and Brilliant Blue.  The TT paper I dry embossed with a polka dot folder. As I look through the different challenges I wonder if these count for Fall colors (Since they are the University of Florida colors and football has started.) ;)

I stamped with the Craft Ink for the hot air balloon-but then I added Firecracker Blue Embossing Powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle.

Here is a closeup of the balloon.  Oh-so pretty! :)

I would like to submit this to the following challenges (but no autumn challenges-I don't want to get into any trouble!) LOL

Thank you for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...Hooray! :)

Grateful Card

Hello Everybody!

The paper really inspired me for this card.  I was looking through paper packs and saw this one-and it was instant love.  It is from My Mind's Eye Meadow in the 6x6 paper pack.  And it's been around for a little bit-copyrighted 2012.  But that is ok!  It's finally getting used! :)

The butterfly is a sticker from Martha Stewart (which has also been floating around for awhile).  The sentiment is from Fiskars and I stamped it with chocolate chip stampin up brown ink.  Then I used a little walnut distress ink to go around the edges.  All in all not a hard card to put together-put it took me forever to find that grateful.  :)

I am linking this card up to the following challenges:

Thank you for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...I am grateful for ya'll!  :)  Thank you for stopping by my little spot on the Internet.  :)

Baby Boy Card

Hello Everyone!

I have finally gotten around to playing with the Ken Oliver Color Burst.  I had inherited the first  main colors and at the Scrapbook Expo bought the metallics.  Then I didn't do anything with them.  Boo!  So I am trying to start using stuff I have.

I will admit I was a little anxious to use them at first because the main colors are powders and there is no control as where they go.  Less than alcohol inks.  But I took a deep breath and started googling.  And here is my first card using this awesome product.

I used watercolor paper, water, and Ultramarine Blue for the base of the background.  And it was so cool!  The color is very vibrant.  Once the background dried I cut out the stork from the silhouette machine.  I love this stork!  I also embossed the background with clouds.  Because of the vertical nature of the embossing plate and horizontal nature of my card, there is space on both sides of the clouds.  But it is fine. :)

I used a metallic blue gelato for the little bag that the stork carries.  And I used pop dots to glue him down.  Then I painted the silver around the card--but not with the metallic set from Ken.  I used Golden fluid acrylics because the color is iridescent silver.

Here's a closeup.

I am linking up to the following challenges:

Cut It Up--Challenge 105 Name Game --Die Cut + use something that starts with the first letter of your first name.  My name is Katy and I used Ken Oliver's color burst. :)

Chemistry Card

Hello Everybody!

I made a card for a sketch at Stick It Down.  And I love how it turned out.  This stamp set is called Positive Chemistry and it's from Close to My Heart.  And I just love it!

The inks are from Stampin Up-Green Galore and Summer Sun.  On the green galore base I used clear embossing powder so it would be easier to see those molecules.  (I guess molecules-it's been awhile since I was in a chemistry class.)

I would like to submit this card into the following challenges:

A Super Card

Hello Everybody!

I am happy to say that the stars aligned and I was able to play today.  I made a few cards (I'm usually very slow), and I am excited to share them with you guys!  They are going to be on separate posts because I have found a challenge or two to participate in.

For this card I was inspired by the sketch at Paper Play Sketches 015.

The papers are scraps (yay!) and I embossed the black cardstock.  The super girl and sentiment are from Fun Stampers Journey.  I colored her with Copic markers.  I tried to give her highlight but I don't think you can tell-lol.  Here hair is lighter than the brown that I have so that is good.

Here is the sketch that inspired this card.

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...have a super day! :)

Autumn Blessings Card

Hello Everybody!

Can you believe it is already September 15?  How did this happen?  Where did September go?  Well, one good thing about today is that is time for some more inspiration from our Creative With Stamps team.  Here is my inspiration.

For this card I used a stamp from our generous sponsor STAMPlorations.  It is the Pumpkin-Large.  The sentiment is also from STAMPlorations.

I used copic markers for the pumpkin and the leaves.  I used Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey.  And then I added the leaf brads.

The challenge this month is to use the colors or the picture for inspiration.  We can't wait to see what you make! :)

Be sure to include this on your post! :)

Until next time my friends...time to get a pumpkin something! ;)

A Nice Pumpkin Card

Hello Everybody!

Are you ready for the new challenge at Creative with Stamps?  I am!  The picture is inspiring for the fall season and the colors are nice and rich.  You can use the inspiration picture or the colors-or both! :)

For my card I used the Pumpkin Vine Digi Stamp from our sponsor QKR Stampede.  I used distress inks to watercolor the pumpkin vine image.  The dots are from Fiber-Castell's gold lux paste and the faded dots stencil by Tim Holtz.  The sentiment is from Hot off the Press-a fabric sticker.  I also used frosted film.

I used Tim Holtz's frosted film on the digi image after I finished painting and coloring it.  It's a thin film that goes over paper.  It's very subtle.  Here is the before:

Here is the after.  You can see how it sparkles when the light hits it.  It cuts easy and gives my card a little extra uumph.  :)

(Be sure to include this graphic on your submission.)

A Little Bird Card

Hello Everybody!

I am so excited to share the new challenge going over at House of Cards today.  You can use a bird or the color inspiration.  Or both!

There are so many possibilities!  You could use and owl or peacock, or flamingo or cardinal....There are so many birds!  I chose to use this little mover shaker bird from Tim Holtz.  I used the bird cage also.  I cut both out of white cardstock.  The bird cage is colored with Gelatos.  I painted the bird with crystal stickles and added a googly eye (so fun!).  The stamp is from Inkadinkado (circa 2007).  The flowers are a material ribbon and I lightly colored them with tattered rose distress ink.  I used pumice ink around the edges.

I can't wait to see your bird projects.  Make sure to stop by and see my teammates bird cards.  They are all fabulous.  :)

Until next time my friends...bird is the word!
