February Tim Holtz Tag

Hello Everybody!

I am so excited that I finished my Tim Holtz tag for February!  It's always a treat to be able to make what Tim makes (or come really close to making it).

I used a different stencil-mine was doilley but I like the one he used better (I have to add it to my list).  I used a couple of his roses and painted them with spun sugar distress paint.  I love these little roses!

I love the heart too.  It is 2 pieces of ephemera glued to a heart base.  For me I hadn't thought of using the printed pieces like this so this makes me really happy.  I used his same technique on the raised words except that I had to spell out the words using a stencil because I didn't have the one Tim used.

I am entering this February tag into the following challenges:

Tim's tag and link up (because there is still time) is here.

VBS Trifold

Hello Everybody!

The last week and a half I have been busy with a trifold for my church's Vacation Bible Study.  VBS isn't until the summer but we wanted to drum up some excitement early. :)

I bought the board at a big box retailer, and I just bought the cardboard one.  The theme of VBS is the Deep Sea Discovery.  And we are going to talk about Noah and Jonah and the whale.

So using my Silhouette I cutout the 3-D version of Noah's Ark.  All of the images that I used on the Silhouette are from the Silhouette store.  I painted the sky and for the sea I used clear plastic wrap.  To turn the clear wrap to blue I used Tim Holtz's alcohol inks.  Mostly the bright blue one.

I cut a couple of doves from sparkly white paper from Doodlebug.  I cut a banner and put in the letters from VBS2016.  I used the Ed Sweetpea font.  This rainbow is made from tissue paper.  Tissue paper can be a great medium! :)

Here is Noah.

Here is the tri-fold all done.  I cut the clouds, whale, and fish using the Silhouette, also.  The net was from IKEA I think.  We had bought some decorative spheres and that is what they came in.

I couldn't have made this without my Silhouette machine.  I love that machine! :)

So I am entering this into the Silhouettes Challenges #34 Anything Goes.

Until next time my friends, keep crafting! :)

HOC: Shaped Cards

Hello Everybody!

It seems like just yesterday we were cheering for a New Year and now look!  January is over!  Time just goes too fast!

But one cool thing about fast moving time is that it is time for another challenge at House of Cards!

This month we are all about shaped cards!  I am super excited to see what everyone creates. :)

I used my Silhouette machine for this challenge.  I made a shell card.

I used Star Dust Stickles to outline the shell cuts on the top of the shell card.

This is what it looked like.  And this is awesome by itself.  But I thought it needed just a little something.

This is the inside of the card.  I wanted to be clever and have it say something like "You're Shelltastic!" but nothing really jumped out at me.  I figured this is one of those cards that it is better if I wait.

I wanted to add something.  Flowers or ribbons?  I chose these little bitty shells that I have from Hobby Lobby.  I used hot glue to adhere them.  It adds a colorful touch. :)

So warm up your cutting machine or use a shape card that you haven't decorated yet and get to it!

Be sure to stop by House of Cards to see the amazing cards from the rest of the team! :)

We can't wait to see what you make! :)

Until next time my friends...that's shaping up nicely! ;)
