Chirp Chirp!

Hello Everybody!

I have been wanting to make a bird cage forever and I finally made one!  :)  I made over a year ago and I have it hanging in my scrapbook room-so I thought it was time for another one.

I am submitting this little cage into the following challenges:

Alter It at Let's Scrap

Anything Goes at Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Challenge #22 Anything Goes at Inkspirational

I started with one of these paper mache boxes.  It measures 2 and 3/4 inches across the bottom so it isn't big.  I gessoed both pieces but I just used the top for my bird cage.

Here's my bird cage!  I used my crop-a-dile and punched 6 holes in the lip of the lid.  I painted it too, but the flowers covered it up so that doesn't matter as much.  The flowers are a ribbon from Tim Holtz that come white but I colored them with worn lipstick distress stain (my new favorite color!)

I put the wires in and kind of looped the ends through the holes.  Then I glued the flower ribbon on.  The cage part can be a bit challenging at times.  You have to let go of perfection and go for whimsical.  LOL :)  I used Glossy Accents for all of my gluing needs.

I put some white fibers in the very bottom and then put the fun colorful curly fibers on top.  The chick is a little Easter egg left in my son's toy box from past Easter egg hunts.  I don't think he will miss it ;)  This little chick was inspired by Pinterest.  You can see the original chicky here.

I glued eyes and a feather on.  I made the beak out of orange cardstock.

I had the sequin strain from some ribbons that Michaels sold many years ago.  It was from a Peter Rabbit collection I think.

Here's a close up of this little guy.

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends have a tweet day! :)
