Pretty in Purple

Hello Everybody!

I know it's Tuesday-but can I tell you I made this card for Cards in Envy: Just Purple.  And as soon as those liquid pearls dried-I put this baby in the envelope and it was off to my son's teacher.  Whew!  Not a moment to spare!  So I had taken some pics before hand, and today here we are.  :)

That's why there is a curvature in my card.  LOL  There was no time to give it the heavy book treatment.  :)

The reason for the curvature is because the base of the card is a torn page from a 2010 Almanac.  I had some glue n seal that needed some water so this ended up more wet than normal.  Then I added gesso to it.  The base of the card is a normal cardstock base from Michaels.  Then I added gelatos and water.  Yay!  I got to use my gelatos!

So one is a lavender and the other is Metallic Grape which gives it some sparkle.  So all of these mixed media things kind of binded up my card.  LOL  But I couldn't stop there.  The background was awesome.  I stamped and fussy cut that cute bunny.  I added the sentiment and sequins and liquid pearls from Faber-Castell (they call them texture gems).  This card made me happy.  :)

Thank you for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...time to mess with the gelatos some more! :)

Butterfly Card

Hello Everybody!

Are you excited about spring coming?  I know I am!  The days are long and the sun is warmer.  Yay! :)

To help bring in a little spring, I made this card using a sweet butterfly from Stampin Up (probably retired) and this pretty happy blue color.

The background blue is a shimmery paper from Wassau.  And the butterfly is embossed with Recollections Glacier Embossing powder.  And then a ribbon from my stash.  I'm keepin' it simple today! :)  Oh and I corner rounded 2 of the corners on the white layer.  That's one of those things that you will see but not always take notice but it can make a card look so different!

Thank you for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...enjoy spring before it flutters away...  ;)

Princess Pop Up Box

Hello Everybody!

A very special little friend of our is having a birthday so I know I needed to make her a special card.  And a pop-up card is super special!

I used my Silhouette machine to cut the card base out using the grilling card file by Lori Whitlock. (I love her stuff!!)  From there I made it into a princess card rather than the grilling card-which was challenging.  I'm a boy mama-LOL so princess stuff is scarce in these parts.  ;)

And here is the card open up-magical!

Here is the first panel.

Here is on the right side.  I had these pink flowers cut out (from a cuttlebug flower die cut) and on my desk.  I used gems from G studio that I got at Christmas for the centers.

Here is the left side.  This paper, the paper on the bottom, and the cardstock are all from Close to My Heart-Daydream.  (It's a bit old but I was so glad to have it.) :)

Here is a close up of the middle.  The Silhouette cut the swirls on the farthest panel back and the crown.  The metal castle is a light weight metal brad (that's why the whole at the top).  I have also had this for a loooong time and either bought it at the Scrapbook Expo or the Internet.   The present is a stamp that I colored and fussy cut and the white flowers are Martha Stewart.

And then I tied it all up with a bow.  :)

I am going to enter this card into the following challenges:

Creative Knockouts--#132 Use a die cut or punch--the flowers are from Cuttlebug, the crown and swirls are die cut from the Silhouette machine.

Crafty Gals Corner--#62 All about the Girls--pink, crowns, swirls, flowers :)

The Sisterhood of Crafters--Use die cuts or punches--the flowers are from Cuttlebug, the crown and swirls are die cut from the Silhouette machine.

Silhouette Challenges--#35 Must use the Silhouette--anything goes--the base of the card, swirls, and crown.

Green Inspiration

Hello Everybody!

It seems so strange that St. Patrick's Day is one week, and Easter is the next!

Over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge the monthly challenge is to use green.  That's it?  Count me in!

So I created this:

I posted some pictures on Instagram of the background process.  I used a roller and garden green craft ink from stampin up on a yellow cardstock sheet.  Then I added Close to Cocoa with the roller.

Here you can see the brown stamp border-that's a Tim Holtz stamp and I used gathered twigs distress ink.  There are some yellow dots in the center bottom and that is a stencil and a distress marker-mustard seed.  That is done randomly throughout the page.  The gold mesh was from a garage sale.

I used the Silhouette to cut out the shamrocks.  I used green Smooch paint stuff around the edges to give it a gold glittery effect plus a rhinestone in the middle.

The hand is a Prima stamp which is stamped on grey vellum.  I thought it turned out really cool.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Happy Spring! :)

Lucky Dog!

 Hello Everybody!

I am here to tell you about the fun new challenge at House of Cards today!  It is a cue word-and the cue is silhouette!

I love this challenge-the possibilities are endless!  I cut this dog and his green hat out on my Silhouette machine.  I love this little dog!

To create the background I took some light tan pattern paper and used this stencil from Recollections from Michaels and this ink pad and applicator.  The I used some washi tape and a ribbon.  The sentiment is stamped onto a piece of vellum.

We love to see your creations at House of Cards-so what will you make?

Until next time my friends...time for silhouettes! :)
