A Little Neon

Hello Everybody!

There's a challenge going on that uses Neon because it's trendy right now.  So I bought 2 pieces of neon paper.  Now for me this is unfamiliar territory.  I only had one neon shirt in the 80's and I haven't look back.  LOL!  So here it goes...

I used black embossing powder for my boom box which I think is from Imaginisce.  Spellbinders for my round pink frame and Coluzzle for my inside circle (this is an old tool I use when I don't feel like firing up the ol' cricut).  The 3 silver circles are Candis from Craftworkcards.  And a sticker that I had that now has a home. :)

The silver circles (like paper brads without the tail) are more the silver.  They call them twinkle and in the light you can see why...

Here are the challenges that I am submitting this card too:

Simon Says Stamp Challenge- Anything Goes!   This week they are showing Candi's so I had to use mine too! :)

So thank you for stopping by to see my bright journey into Neon.  Maybe I will be able to use up the rest of this crazy paper.  LOL!  Until next time my friends...my future's so bright-I've gotta wear shades! :)

Fourth of July Card

Hello Everybody!

This card placed in the TOP 5 at Inkspirational!

Tonight I made a card for the Fourth of July.  Here's my card:

I am submitting it into the following challenges:

Inkspirational Challenge #25-CASE this:

Cut It Up Challenge #21: Red, White, and Blue and Use a Die Cut-I used my Cricut to cut the stars (good ol' George Cartridge)

I used a paisley embossing folder for the top of my card.  I made red and blue stars using my Cricut.  The shiny stars in the middles are from Scrap Yard 329.  I don't know if they are still around anymore.  They made shiny light weight metal embellishments which of course I still seem to have.  LOL!  I remember buying them at the Scrapbook Expo like 8 years ago and thinking this is the best thing ever.  Back then they were though but I must have been afraid to use them.  I need to remedy that!

Oh and I wanted to share that I love this CASEed card.  I will probably be using it again.  :)

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...what old old old stash do you have?

Red, White, and Blue Time

Hello Everybody!

I am feeling so honored that I am a Guest DT member for Clearly i Stamp Challenge Blog.  For today's card I am using this cool star designed by Deedee Anderson.  You can find their shop here. There are lots of fun designs and some freebies too!

The challenge is Red, White, and Blue so you must use those colors-but you can use whatever kind of theme you like.

I colored the star with Copic markers.  Underneath the star is grunge paper that I put picket fence distress crackle paint on.  After it dried, I rubbed some distress ink-barn yard door- around the edges.  The sentiment is a sticker from the Paper Studio and I used some Offray ribbon.

Here are the details about this challenge:

-Starts June 21 at 10am through July 4th at 11pm (Central Time)

-Prize-$10 gift code to Clearly Digi Stamps for digital stamps.  If you use a CDS stamp you will be entered into the drawing twice (SWEET!)

-There will also be a Top 3 for the challenge and those in the Top 3 will get a badge for your blog.

-The Winners will be announce July 10th so make sure you check back!

Thank you for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...I can't wait to see what you make! :)

Tim Holtz Tag-June 2013

Hello Everybody!

I feel like lately I am running to the wire on so many things in blogland-and being late to things in real life. Well tonight I am a bit early on one thing! LOL  I made my Tim Holtz tag for June 2013 tonight.  Here it is:

Tim shows how to blend the distress markers-super easy and fun!  You can check out all of the details here.  The background for the tag was cool.  I used Tim's Stamper Anonymous stamps Time Travelers (the man and gears), and the Paris postal images at the top are for the Paris to London collection.

I just want to say I love love LOVE how this tag turned out.  I was skeptical at first.  There's no Ideology or ribbon.  But when I started blending colors I saw the magic.  The background is very cool and easy too.  And as Tim does he brings it altogether.  Yay! :)

I love Mad Men and this guy sometimes reminds me of Don Draper if he were in the steampunk era of the 1800's or so.  Jon Hamm is going to be on the Kelly Ripa show tomorrow...I might need to dvr that! :)

Thank you for stopping by and until next time my friends...have a good evening! :)

Get the Map!

Hello Everybody!

This card placed in the Top 5 at Inkspirational!

I made a card for the Inkspirational Photo Challenge #24.  This is such a great picture.  I started out cutting a lighthouse on my Cricut.  And you know it just wasn't doing anything for me.  So I got out a new nautical stamp I bought at Hobby Lobby (love!) and some new distress ink from Joanne's (ok I have made the crafty rounds!).  And here is what I came up with...

My little boat is from a Fiskars set (I think).  All of the stamps on there are little so I had Tim Holtz's finger (hehe) it is a mover and shaker.  I colored it with black soot distress ink and then some rusty hinge and walnut stain.  Then I put some brass color distress stain over it.  It gave it this cool shimmer color.  I positioned the finger to point to the little boat so it wouldn't get lost in the "sea."  Oh also it's embossed with Ranger platinum embossing powder which seems to be really awesome.  I outlined it with black pen to make it stand out.

In red pen I drew the path and X marks the spot.  The sentiment is from Tim Holtz and I used peacock feathers, dusty concorde, and mustard seed distress ink to color the sentiment box.  I used some gold paint T.H. paint dabber around the edges.  The map stamp is pretty big so I tore the edges around it.  I used black soot on the actual card then adhered the map.

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends...enjoy the journey! ;)

Think Vacation!

Hello Everybody!

Summer is in full force!  Nice warm weather and afternoon showers :) and I love everything about it!  That's why I couldn't pass up this week's challenge at Inkspirational.  It was a color challenge and these colors are all summer to me.  Here's my card:

Here is the challenge: #23 Color Challenge.

My hibiscus is from the Life is a Beach cartridge (I think this one's my favorite!).  Then I used orange and yellow stickles to add a bit of glitter.  The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday Stamps.  My sister got them for me for Christmas and this is the first time I am using this set.  Better late than never :)  I used orange embossing powder for the sentiment also.  I used a hexagon embossing folder to add a bit of texture behind my flower.

Thank you guys for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...stay cool! :)

9 to 5

Hello Everybody!

I finished a page for a couple of challenges.

The first challenge is at Let's Scrap.  It is NSD13#32-use at least 50% of October Afternoon products on a layout.

The second challenge is going on for the whole month of June.  It's called Let's Get Trendy Now! I am submitting this page for Day 3-handmade embellishments.  Make sure to check out the other days' challenges and projects.  Yvonne, Amy, and Julie are super talented and they have guest designers too.

Here's my page.  All of the paper is October Afternoon except the brown cardstock and the beige photo mats.  The center of the top flower, around the title, and the 2 graphics on the right are fussy cut from sheets of paper.

The ric rac and seam binding (brown between the pattern papers) are from my stash.  The letters are from Thickers but the 9 to 5 part is the name of the line, and I fussy it cut it out from the paper.  The flower are made from pattern tissue paper and the file folder is hand drawn and cut.

Home Made Embellie:  Here's is a close up of one of the pattern paper flowers.  I used Tim Holtz's floral die and made many of each of the 3 flowers.  That's a Tim Holtz button in the middle.   I drew and cut out that little file folder.  I used leftovers from a bolder to make this one.  The Notes is a sticker from Cosmo Cricket.

Home Made Embellies:  Here is another flower.  Creating Keepsakes actually showed how to do this so that I had been wanting to try it.  Then center is a clock from one of the OA papers and I put and epoxy sticker over it.  The lady on the phone and the round ribbon ad are from the OA papers also.  I fussy cutted them out.

Here I did some more fussy cutting and decorated around the title.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Until next time my friends...what a way to make a livin! ;)

Chalkboard Technique

Hello Everybody!

It's a brand new Tuesday and the first of June and time to learn something new at Technique Tim Tuesday!  This month Julz is the challenge hostess and she has chosen this very cool chalkboard technique.

I made a new home card (or at least that's what I intended on anyways!).  So my chalkboard has a few different kind of word stamps and a Wendy Vecchi house stamp in the middle.  Smile is a sticker that I used to be the sentiment.

I can't wait to see what ya'll create for this challenge.  Also, my Crewmates have some pretty amazing examples so be sure to stop by for that and challenge directions.  You can go here.

Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time my friends have a great day! :)
